Steering Wheel Alternatives

Post by Jack »

Having driven the SC for a few miles, it is entirely apparent that the steering wheel is fairly large for just about everybody that is planning to drive the car.

As a result, we are going to need a smaller steering wheel, seems to be a fairly common change for Jupiter owners from what I saw at the rally, but I didn't make a note of which make and model were being used.

So, suggestions please on alternatives to the original wheel that others are using.

I know that Keith has a Mountney on his car, which is something I have had a look at, but not sure if any fittings are required to get a standard wheel to fit on a Jupiter steering column?

Thanks in advance,

Jack.

Alternative steering wheels

I have a Mota Lita wheel with a mini mounting boss there is about a 40 thou difference in size over the standard Jowett fitting and thus the horn can be easily fitted.the wheel diameter is 15" I think whereas standard Jowett was 16". http://www.moto-lita.co.uk/our-products ... px?WH_ID=2 They were around when Jowetts were making Jupiters and thus could have been fitted as a period accessory.

Yes the Moto Lita wheel is a good alternative and the 15inch is OK but don't forget to get a flat one not a dished one or it will be too near your face.
Holdens give a good service and the mini boss fits the Jupiter.
However whilst talking to Scott Renner in Wakefield he said he could get the old wheel rim refurbished so I want to do this and keep the car a bit more original.

Just finished refurbing my Javelin wheel. The epoxy coating was put on many years ago to a stripped wheel using a molding for the pimples on the rear surface. Jack and I sanded it down and Chris repsrayed.

Jack only has to look at the wheel fitted to the SA to get the answers he needs. But heh it makes good JowettTalk.

Yes Scott was also researching the marble epoxy originally fitted.
