Special WAKEFIELD Edition
Here's a "Newspaper" for all participants to use to write up the reports of their journeys and travels to get to the Great Centenary Rally, the fabulous things they've done there and most importantly, any gossip they can spill ! This for the benefit of those poor sods who can't make it to join in the merry multitude, for one reason or another . . . .

"Where the bloody hell are ya" (This is a Australasian "in joke" . . . Picture a lone and lovely blond, bikini clad girl on a beautiful deserted beach . . . just ask a Aussie or Kiwi . . . about the "joke", that is!) Image

I don't see any Jowetts in the car park . . .

Image
The weather looks good . . . pity this picture was taken in 2008!

But, here's the long range forecast for Wakefield! Looks pretty reasonable.

Have a great Rally (and watch out those bleeding Kiwis don't take over the place!).

Well - what a Rally. Rally to end all Rallies, methinks. Will certainly be a hard act to follow.

Fantastic weekend (not just because Arabella took two trophies !), fantastic camaraderie and fantastic weather on the Sunday.

Doubt we will ever again see so many Jowett vehicles together ?

Well done the Northern Section - fantastic event :D

100% agree. My last rally was Crieff, and I have to admit I really didn't know enough about the cars to really get into things like the Concours day and we did the scenic run in a Ford Ka :) Luckily this time it was all different, full update from us on the SC Rebuild thread, but a great weekend had by all.

Now, early nights all round I think, few too many early hours finishes for me in the last 3 days!!!

For those wondering, the server went down on Jowett talk on Friday evening after Keith and the gang had already left for Wakefield, so there wasn't anybody to restart things. We have now got home and got us back online again, apologies to international and other members who couldn't get on and see what was going on, but hopefully some comprehensive trip reports should give them a feel for what has been going on over the last 3 days.

Can all members who have taken photos and have means to upload them please do so, and either link to the photos on a hosting site like Photobucket or similar, or pop them in the Gallery so members can have a look at what has been going on.

RALLY REPORT . . .

Post by Leo Bolter »

A link to a message from "Reporter Jack":

You'll find a really good first account of his teams comprehensive trip, "troubles" reports and of Jack's own impressions of the Rally at: http://jowett.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1207&start=210

It was terribly bad luck that there were server problems . . . I for one was looking forward to catching up with some of you on Skype and through this forum . . . never mind . . . one thing we can always look forward to in life, that is to expect the unexpected  (as happened with newly re-built brakes on a certain Jupiter!)

Link to our photos from the weekend, we will upload the rest as we get them off various memory cards, most are from the field day at the moment.

One picked out of somebody else's car, one I really liked, with some of Canon hall in the background and a few Javelins behind.

To the rally organisers / committiee - Having organised events of this nature before I know just how large a undertaking it is to convert an event of this size in to a huge sucess - far from it just being a gathering of car nerds or a field full of vehicles.

Many people all too easily forget that beside the event you have your own lives to lead / day jobs let alone your own Jowetts to maintain. I would like to lead in conveying my own personal thanks for all the effort expended into making the rally such a sucess.

Couldn't fault the organisation or the hotel. Wonderful!

Thanks to all the organisers and hello to all of you to whom I've put faces to names.

Hello also to all of the names whose faces I know, it's been lovely to see you all again.

Have tried to upload my snapshots to the Gallery tonight but it seems a little more complicated than it used to be.

I'll have another go later.

Tony.

Brilliant event!! Many thanks to Paul and the whole team, and a special thank you to Barbara Atack who, for James and myself and many others, was always there when needed.

What a great turn out, and so many new friends and contacts made. To those I / we promised eMails - they will be coming soon, when the dust settles here.

Thanks to Peter Rodgers, Tony Fearn, Ian Priestley and several others whose names I forgot to note - who offered help with our fuel problems, advice and information. All in the spirit of the day(s)!

Thanks especially Michael Koch-Osborne who just 'happened' to have a spare carburettor float lever in his tin of bits. WE ACTUALLY FOUND THE LOST ONE AGAIN later in the day. Needles in haystacks? - No problem!

We got back to the coast after a 'nervous' seven hour run, but again the car would not run when unloaded! More muck in the tank we guess.

If you read this Jaap - we hope you made it back to Altmaar safely and in working order.

Sorry we missed the beer Bill, hope you are better too now.

Looking forward to next year. We may be 'on the road' - you never know!

First to Leo: Drummond misled you! I picked up the Peggs from Manchester Airport and had them safely stowed in the hotel 24 hours before his post!! They were the first in the hotel!!

Then to every one else. Thanks for supporting the Jowett Centenary International Rally. We had 164 Jowetts on the field at Cannon Hall on Sunday. A record surely. Well done everyone.

To make a rally work you need:
Good weather - only about 6/10 on that!
A good hotel - Surely at least 9/10 there
Good food - 11.5/10 maybe
Reasonable bar prices - 9/10 maybe

Thanks Cedar Court!!

Here's to Daventry!

Agreed on the whole an epic weekend! Lots of familiar faces, and new ones who I hadn't seen before. A great and comical trip up and back! 12 months en-counting until the next one!

Interesting run up & back. 'OKP' got there & back, now recovering in the garage!!! LDD - also in the garage- is awaiting tired owner/driver to give it a clean, may have to wait awhile! Junior left all buckets with Paul, so can't hire one!!! Didn't do scenic run saturday(me confined to room, Martin assisting Ken etc with Weasel), but understand some of it was over route we used going up (Ladybower & Strine Moor). Sunday was great & so was Coach trip Monday . We were on Green coach with MKO, 'Cuddles' Bill & his effervescent Antipodean group, European & American continent friends, with a small sprinkling of UK residents - hope you all make it home in one piece. Tuesday saw us returning in convoy with Peter Holden & Ken Rogers. Once again we got to Ladybower & Ken had to stop - on the pretext of putting the roof up. we then had rain on & off all the way home! Still can't complain about that really can we? Shame Jowett talk was unavailable from Thursday for all those who couldn't make it. :)
