Feb 2006 Rally update:
For all of you who have not read or do not see the Jowetteer:
The great news is that the Ramada Jarvis "Bankfield" Hotel is fully booked. Further the Annual Awards Dinner on Sunday 28th May is full to capacity (242 people) If you have not yet booked and are very lucky there might be a place for you at the Saturday evening Carvery. We definitely have a few places still for the Buffet on Friday night. That's food out of the way.
Our Concours display will be on Saturday in Myrtle Park. You do not have to be booked in, nor even a JCC member to attend this, though some notice of your intention to arrive in a Jowett would be appreciated. We intend to arrange the cars around the Band Stand from which we will periodically be seranaded by members of a noted local Brass Band!
On Sunday the scenic run will take you north via Ilkley into the Dales. Spectacular scenary, dozens of pubs and all sorts of Dales attractions. Again: join us in your Jowett! If you want a rally pack and you are a JCC member please return your yellow form soon. Programmes and Rally Momentos will be on sale on Saturday for any visitors.
Our 2006 Rally is going to try to do a bit for 2 local Charities: the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Martin House Hospice for young people. If you want more details of thes efforts or any other details about this important rally send me a mail.

Hi Eric see you are logged on! I am trying to get a video/audio link set up at Bingley so you guys that cannot make it can look in and chat over Skype.
Watch this space on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening UK time. I cannot promise anything at this stage as technology may confound us.
The global Jowett Noggin and Natter should be on. I checked with the hotel and have checked out equipment. We will need to purchase WIFI access credentials at the hotel. It seems that the WIFI hotspot is very sensibly next to the bar. So please get yourself connected to Skype, if possible with a webcam; but at least with a microphone and speakers. I think we can only have a pair seeing each other at once; but we will figure out a way of showing everbody what is going on. Note it may be best to put the children to bed as things could get out of hand.
We will also be encouraging people to chat on JowettTalk, hopefully every day. The first Natter should be on Friday evening UK BST. If there is anybody in Australia that wants a morning (UKBST) call let me know.
WOW!! Eat you hearts out all you posh Clubs. I'll bet the RollsREC, the BentleyDC, the BugattiOC and even the MG Club haven't attempted a global internet chat at their Nationals. Another first perhaps? Hope it comes off. What ammunition it will give to Noel when he sends in his reports to the Classic Car Press. See you in Bingley, Regards, Tony.
MORE than 100 Bradford-made Jowett cars gathered with their proud owners in Bingley. at the weekend.
Among them was Michael Koch-Osborne, grandson of William Jowett who founded the car-making firm with his brother Benjamin.
Saturday's rally at Myrtle Park was the 31st Jowett rally for Mr Koch-Osborne and his wife Kathleen – and they have passed on their love of the vintage cars to daughter Louise, 25, who is membership secretary of the owners' club.
Mr Koch-Osborne, who lives at Eldwick, near Bradford, owns five Jowett cars and renovates them for a living now that he has retired as a company director.
One of his favourites is a 1923 model which is the equivalent of a modern works rally car. It is capable of doing about 60mph but he has only ever done 40 it it.
Collecting good quality Jowett vehicles can be an expensive hobby, however. A decent Jowett Jupiter might fetch up to £18,000.
There are a few hundred Jowetts still on the road in Britain and they can also be seen in New Zealand, USA, Canada and Australia.
From the mid-1920s to 1939 the Jowett brothers made around 3,000 vehicles a year but post-war they made around 40,000 of the Bradford model, about 20,000 Javelins and 1,000 Jupiters.
Mr Koch-Osborne says he spends too much of his time tinkering and restoring old Jowetts, but it's a labour of love.
His wife said: "He works at home so I know what he's doing.
"Our first rally was in Buxton in 1976 and we haven't missed one since. I didn't know anything about Jowetts when I married Michael – I have really come to love them, they are superb."
The couple's children James, 32, and Louise were embarrassed to be seen in the old cars when they were children.
"Louise used to hide in the back, she didn't want her schoolfriends to see her. We sold that car she was embarrassed to be seen in, and now she wants us to buy it back," said Mrs Koch-Osborne.
n One of several slogans used in Jowett literature was "The little engine with the big pull." Another was: "The pull of an elephant, the appetite of a canary, the docility of a lamb."

Just a quick note to everyone who attended the Centenary Rally at Bingley over the weekend.
A big huge thank you for coming along and making it such a special event. these rallies take years planning just for 3 days over the weekend, but the thing that makes it all worthwhile is to see the Jowetts turn up and smiles on your faces - hopefully smiles that last all weekend. You did both!
thank you again.
We will be finalising acounts over the next few days and I will post a detail of the donation to the YAA after that.
See you all in Daresbury next year when we'll do it all again!
Thank you and all the other organizers for what was for me the best JAW yet! Everything (even the weather!) was wonderful - I was even more sorry than usual to be leaving! Here's looking forward to next year's.
Well done Northern Section - Another very successful Rally. They just get better and better. The help extended to myself to repair my mechanical mishap is a further acolade to our proud and successful club.. Thank you all. Drummond
We should like to thank Paul Beaumont and all the 2006 Organising Committee for a super rally last weekend. We had a wonderful time and I know just how much hard work goes into setting-up the rally. The Scenic Run was a special delight - supported by such excellent weather.
We topped it off by calling into the factory site at Idle ( the Morrison's supermarket ) and even met a lady who had worked in Jowett's Machine Shop.
Many thanks to you all for making the experience so worthwhile - it was a real reflection on our super Club!
A most enjoyable, and impeccably organised Rally. Wonderful to see and talk to you all again, including Eric in Canada via the laptop - amazing. Thanks to Paul and his cohorts. Tony.
Thanks to David and Tony and the many others of you who have advised how much you enjoyed Bingley. These events are team efforts and we had a great team!
NOW start planning for next years Rally and give the NW team the same headache that you gave us........ turn up in your hundreds! Don't care if you call it Warrington or Daresbury etc. If everyone comes along it will be another great rally. Good luck to the NW team, and a bit further forward to Drummond and his team for Scotland 2008!
