Does anybody still have this connected on the Jup? I obviously have forgotten, as for years it has been the indicator lamp on the SA .
I guess it might warn if the wiper is stuck and thus save the wiper motor!

Wiper warning lamp
I can beat the lot of you . . . my "wiper blades frozen to the windscreen" warning light is now used for a reversing warning light!
Nah . . . I'm just joking! I can't actually remember what it's used for . . I've just been out to the garage to check what makes it light up . . . and it appears to be . . nothing. Maybe it's broken!

My previous response was rather short due to being interrupted by household duties. I had meant to say that the Lucas wiper motor used in the Jowett Javelin/Jupiter was a very early use of the rack and pinion wiper arm drive, and consequently (I think) was equipped with a thermal cut out switch built into the motor, to protect the rack and pinion components should the blades freeze to the screen or try to work against packed snow at the ends of their sweep. The blue warning lamp was there to advise of the thermal cout out switch having operated.
All of this, on my car has been somewhat negated by the fact that the wiper motor now employed is from a Morris 1100 and the rack and pinion are from an Austin-Healey Sprite -- much stronger in both the motor torque and the rack and pinion drive. It now has the ability to tear the wiper blade insert apart when it sticks to the screen due to standing in the hot sun!
My Jaguar XJ-S had a little control module that told me when a lamp globe (bulb) was blown. I found out that this convenience computer cost $5,000 to replace when it failed. I told the repairer that I could back up to many shop windows to check my brake lights were working, for the price oif a new control module. The globe-failed warning lamp globe was removed fron the instrument cluster!
So, I have shied away from installing such a device in my Jupiter to check my Christmas tree lighting set up!
