Before and after

Post by Forumadmin »

From JOHN GODFREY in New Zealand via Tom Chapman.

Have attached a photo taken on the day the vehicle became official! This car started life 14th December 1951 and the original owner was a Alfred Storey who eventually parted with the vehicle on 11th Feb 1966. The next owner was a Arthur Roberts who sold it to John Tiplady 29th July 1966 and it was then on sold to Clarence Ethell 2nd Nov 1966. Mr Ethell then advertised it for sale 18th September 1997 on an as is where is basis, to Mr Chris Eason who in 2008 donated it to the Jowett Car Club Northern Section. I was persuaded (by Ken Brownlie) to take on the vehicle as a restoration project aided by members of the club at the club premises at Ken’s ranch (!) and in October 2009 this vehicle once again became roadworthy. I have had it on two club outings since and apart from some minor teething problems, only to be expected, the vehicle has performed very well and long may it continue.
The attachment is the vehicle in its restored condition and the photo below was taken prior to restoration. I am now working on refurbishing the interior.

Best wishes,
John

If you want to send me a photo attachment with a little bit of story I will get it put in the JOwetteer as they like bits from overseas members
Kind regards

Hello John.

Your efforts have been well worth while looking at the finished product.

Only wish I had a ranch!

I like the colour scheme.

Regards,

Tony.
