What about gas tanks? Seats?

Post by Srenner »

Have a couple of Jupiters in the pipeline and will be having a few bits made.

Currently looking at doing proper looking Jupiter gas tank in aluminum. Less expensive than the leaded sheet metal that was originally used. All fittings would remain in stock locations.

Also, will be making the sheet metal portion of the bench seats, but not necessarily the tubing or tack strip portions, as we think we can re-use the existing ones on the seats we are rebuilding.

Open to all suggestions and comments.

Happy New Year to all!

Hello Scot

I have looked at having the seat frames remade locally and have failed miserably! People took one look at the detail and ran a mile. Your idea of recovering part of the old seat might work in some cases, although in my case all was rotten.

But if we can find a solution for the freight charges, I could certainly be interested in petrol tanks. In particular for my SC which I treated with a resin, but also for an SA I will follow up with soon. I do fear that for something of the size of the tank the freight might be expensive, though I dont know for sure.

Hello VIc:

Sent you a message via regular email about the seats.

I will check the costs using the size and weight of the tank out of the car and post it here.

Scott

GAs tanks

Post by Robin Fairservice »

Scott, ask about standby Air Freight. A friend brought a Lotus Elan chassis into Vancouver that way, and he claimed that he saved quite a lot of money compared with normal air freight. Do you have friend who works for an airline? They can get cheaper rates.

Gas tanks, Seats

Post by Srenner »

The quote on the gas tank is US$650 delivered to my shop. Made in lead -coated steel, this requires all the fittings from a dead tank be provided in order to be soldered together. They should be a faithful reproduction of the original. As an option, for an additional $150, they can be provided in alloy with bungs threaded for the pick-ups, a proper sending unit boss, filler neck and mounting tabs.

The seat quote came as follows: Bottom for US$625 and back for $525.
Cane be had as separate units or together. DOES NOT include the seat hinge.

This is a one-time production. Any one interested in participating needs to confirm with me PRIOR to FEB 7, 2009.

Please contact me at Jowettpartsusa@yahoo.com, as I do not always check for PMs here. As always, comments and questions are welcome.

Regards,
Scott
