longtime ago, I don´t worked on my Jowett,
at the moment, I prepare the frame and all car parts for sandblasing and spray-galvanise.
Also i prepare the car parts and all screws I need new, that I can start to find that things.
Here a picture of the back dashboard:
I want to know, how I can screw the pressure line from the temperature display off?

Hello Marcel,
I don't understand what you mean by 'pressure line' and 'temperature display'.
If you do not have a photo, you could draw the thing on a sheet of paper, scan it into your computer and then attach the scan as you have done with photographs.

Hello Tony,
today i have looked for my temperature display, in the back of the display is a screw and the line who is comming from front is soldered on.
Is that original? I can´t pulling the temperature display, without cut the line...
you can see it on the Picture, the orange arrow shows the soldered line.

If your temperature gauge is like my Javelin's then the line goes to a sensor on the radiator and has a fluid in it that conducts the temperature to your gauge.

Marcel - I think this is the type that cannot disconnect at the gauge - you have to disconnect at the sensor end and then thread the through the bulkhead to the dashboard and remove as one unit

I think, it will be original, so that nobody can remove the line and some liquid go off.
I must develop the gauge with the long line.

Is the line an electrical wire (it bends easily) or a metal tube (VERY stiff)?
If it is an electrical wire then the joint could be unmade and made again.
If it a metal tube, it will be a sealed unit. HANDLE THAT JOINT WITH GREAT CARE!
Of course if the guage is not working then it is likely that the joint is faulty or that the person who repaired it did not realise that the tube contained (I think) ether? (Others will know) which has all leaked out.
I do not know of any D I Y repair but others might?

2. Ian is trying to know whether the gauge is an electrical one, or just a tube filled with a volatile liquid.
3. If it is a tube, and you follow the tube from the back of the gauge, where does it stop? Is the other end attached to a radiator pipe?
I do not know whether this was original on the 1935 Jowetts.

I suspect that , perhaps because of translation problems etc we are talking about the oil pressure guage. I have loooked again at the photo's that Marcel posted when he joined the forim and connot see any sign of a temperature sender mounted in the header tank or top hose which are the most likely places for one to be.
None of the twins was fitted as standard with a temperature guage from the early tiller steerers to the last CC Bradford of 1953. The pre war 4 cylinder models had a temperature guage as standard.

It seems from the photo Marcel posted that the gauge isn't on the actual instrument panel.
I was editing my post to include this, but wasn't quick enough before your reply appeared.
I've a feeling that it isn't the oil gauge, as we've discussed this previously.
The only temperature gauge on the twins as I remember was the thingy on the radiator cap which frightened you every time you were going uphill!

re the dial shown on Marcel's latest post . It is clearly a water temp guage degrees F up to 250, placed just above the choke control and the steering column. In his post last July can be seen a picture of the engine compartment . The choke control cable can be seen and beyond it black coiled up tubing typical of the expanding liquid type of guage used until the 60's ( before the advent of electrical sensors /dials) as fitted to the Javelin .
These liquid gauges often leak but are tested easily by placing the capsule in a kitchen saucepan with boiling water --preferably on the cook's day off--and watching the dial. There are repairers, my Javelin gauge was u/s and was rebuilt as new by Speedy Cables , Abercrave, Swansea tel 01639 732213, web www.speedycables.com for £40.00 in 2010

First of all Marcel, do not worry about the translation. We can understand what you write. As you say it seems to be a non-electrical gauge. George is correct. It is not original, but a useful addition.
Take care if you remove it. It would be easy to break the joints, especially since you have tested it with warm water and the gauge needle moved.
D.I.Y. means Do-It-Yourself, which also means that if you are not an expert at mending something of value, then leave it to the professionals.
If the tube is not made of iron, the magnet test will not work. It may be made of copper, which of course is non-magnetic.
If the needle of the gauge moved when you tested it, then the liquid inside must be ok and has not leaked out.
