Not wishing to steal Noel's thunder, but here are the allowed-three photos from those I took at the show. Julian, Bernard and I went together on Saturday and had a good time.

Re: NEC RESTORATION SHOW 2015
We managed to get home at a reasonable time last night, after a fairly efficient packing operation to get the driveable cars out of the door before dark, and get the others loaded onto trailers and boards taken down.
The weekend was a busy one, during Saturday it seemed busier than Sunday, presumably due to the weather - despite being an indoor show anyone who has walked from the NEC carparks to a show will tell you it can be a fair distance in the rain.
A remarkable amount seemed to get done, with the jobs Tony has mentioned getting sorted, in addition to a number of leads coming from people who either had cars which need new homes, to locations with a large number of cars and parts which seem abandoned, through to people interested in joining the club and one or two discussions with potential "rescuers" who were interested in taking on Jowett projects from a variety of sources.
The interest from journalists was clear, we were visited by about half a dozen over the course of the weekend, answering questions and a lot of photographs were taken. Hopefully this will result in the number of articles we'd expect following on from this, and as always it is publicity that helps to generate interest with the public and sow the seed of Jowett ownership for some.
The brakes on the Practical Classics Javelin was a big task to focus on, creating the same kind of atmosphere as the recent technical weekends, and with help from several members we can be fairly confident that the system needs a bit of adjustment but is sound and should be safe with new components throughout. It also threw up a few instances where members clearly weren't sure about how things should be assembled, and hopefully the activity through the weekend has shared good information on how this should be done safely. Talking to the team on Sunday it was clear they are enthusiastic about the project, and over the next few months I am confident we will see some more progress with the car and perhaps more articles to follow.
Jack.

Please upload your pictures to the JowettGallery and perhaps your favourite one to JT as well.
There are many methods for adding items on JG, just contact me if you want help.
I am looking into some other methods such as phone upload which are available. Let me know if there is a method you would particularly like to have.

Re: NEC RESTORATION SHOW 2015
I took a short (52 seconds) movie of part of Chris's demonstration of lead loading which came out quite well.Forumadmin wrote:Please upload your pictures to the JowettGallery
When I put the cursor over the file it says:-
VLC media file (mov.) 131 MB, 52 seconds.
I'm sure I won't be able to add it to JT or JG unless it is very simple.
Should I put it on a CD and send it to Forumadmin?
Tony.

Re: NEC RESTORATION SHOW 2015
Tony,
131MB is too large for the Gallery. I will call you tomorrow evening to see how we transfer. There are various options such as file transfer to jowett.net or jowett.org which I think I can make easy for you, but it will take me a while to refresh my memory.
You could try uploading to youtube which will compress the file, but it is usually best to try compressing on your PC first. The video link capability in JT can then be used to link to the video file.
If all else fails, a CD is fine.

Re: NEC RESTORATION SHOW 2015
A crowded stand.

Many more pictures TOPIC here including detailed pictures of the lead loading. The LB restoration guys who supplied the lead were over the moon as Chris was attributed with getting 40 people to buy product from them! CJ Autos also said they had many people buying tilters based on our recommendation and demonstration. I think too JCS will get orders for brake parts shortly with the realisation what damage of anything less than DOT 5 silicone sitting in the system does!

Re: NEC RESTORATION SHOW 2015
A very short movie in wmv format.
Internet Explorer has a player window, but this does not seem to work and you have to click on the NEC.wmv link and select open.
Click on the link to download, if using Chrome. On some browsers you may have to click on the download to start the movie. A very clunky method!
This is the youtube method. Much better and easier, but please note you are at the whim of Google as to how long they keep it and what they do with it. Note you will need to make it public to share with others (unless we create a massive group of all Jowett Club members)

Code: Select all

Alf's idiot's guide was great, but I still needed two phone calls with him to work it out, but at last I have got it to work....
Now I'm on a roll, I thought I would send a few more!

Video of Lead Loading
Your next challenge guys and gals is to upload photos to your personal albums and to the Legacy Project on JowettGallery. Noel, can you publish Alf's Dummies' Guide to JT posting and ask him to do one for JG uploading?
I think JG uploading can be easier than JT attachments. It is also a better way of storing pictures as they can be referenced by others. Also all our pictures can be grouped together in the TOPIC Club Archive as they can easily be moved around the Gallery without losing them.
For a single item, select 'AddItem' from 'Album Actions' when you are in the album that you want to put the photo, normally your own album. Then select the 'From Web Browser' tab, click 'Choose File' and find the file you want to upload on your PC. Click 'Open'. and then click 'AddItems'.
It is as easy as that!
For multiple files, I use the 'Upload Applet' which allows you to drag and drop many files and folders for upload.
I also normally use the Picasa and Windows Publishing methods that link into the Picasa and Windows Photo Gallery applications allowing you to upload directly from them. Very easy once you have done it once. Using either method you can resize the photos easily before uploading, plus the apps keep your photos organised.
Gallery Remote can work from mobile phones. Also the Regal Android applet is available for Android phones.
Here is the compressed video from Tony uploaded to the 'NEC Restoration Show 2015' album in the club archive.

Re: NEC RESTORATION SHOW 2015
The event program published what we were doing, and I think many heard by word of mouth during the event, so I had numerous people asking me when the next demo of lead loading was taking place. Something we learnt was have set, published demo times.
We did have a whiteboard showing progress on the brake restoration. This listed faults we had found and things we had to fix also. We use the same technique in the Jowett Health and Beauty Salon, but the lists always seem to get longer!

Re: NEC RESTORATION SHOW 2015
I am making progress with picture uploading, but my problem now is the fact I do not have the facility to compress pictures down to a size that is compatible with Jowett Talk/Gallery. Once again Alf has been of great help saying:-
" Hi Noel, I reduce the pics with my installed software (Olympus Master Two), it allows size reduction, focus, colour, contrast & brightness, text on pict. etc.I have it on disc so will bring it on 'Drive it Day' & you can download a copy. It is easy to use, no problem".
Obviously, thanks to Alf, I will be able to install this at the end of the month but do any of you have any tips I can use in the meantime?

Resizing images
I know this is off topic, but it may help others.
Operating System? Windows (8,7,Vista, XP...) or Mac or Android or Linux
That will govern already installed applications and possible free or bought in apps.
If Windows 7 or 8 you should already have Windows Photo Gallery which will do the job.
If XP then you can use Paint. Choose 'Image' tab, Choose 'Stretch/Skew', change Horizontal and vertical to 50% and that will reduce size of file to 1/4.
look at http://jowett.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1431

or search with Google, here is an on-line facility
