You do not need a form, just tell us the model and registration number by email, private message or phone. If you had booked on line or used the form in the Jowetteer they asked you for such details. But the forms handed out in Wales did not ask the question. Sorry but this was an oversight by the previous team.
Hopefully we will have up to date vehicle registers before next year, and they will be on line so that entering such detail will not be necessary!

The Yorkshire contingent are 'hanging fire' at the moment due to various circumstances. But if you're coming down from the far, or not-so-far North, have a look at:-

Just in case the prevaricators need the details again, have a look above.

For anyone who is thinking of extending their weekend, and is wondering what delights Hampshire has in store for you, I have put some information in a separate thread: http://jowett.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2826

We shall be adding to that thread, so do keep an eye on it. And all the information from that (and much more!) will be in your rally packs.

Concours judging

Post by Forumadmin »

Tom Chapman has wonderfully volunteered to organise the concours judging of the cars on Saturday 25th May at Milestones. We do however need some judges so please PM or email Tom if you would like to do it. It is not an onerous task and you do get to learn a lot and meet some more owners. It is great fun, honestly.

It is important that you inform Chris Spencer by email or PM or phone the details of the car you are bringing. But if you really do not know until you turn up at Basingstoke we will have a manned desk in the late afternoon early evening where you can check (or add) your car entry and pick up your car rally plate. As happened last year you have the option to opt out of the competition. So please make sure you tell us whether you want your car judged or not.

To assist you to decide whether to enter your Jowett in the Annual Concours
the following is a summary of the agreed rules.
Jowett Car Club Ltd Concours Rules
GENERAL
i Awards will not necessarily be presented if classes are not of a
minimum standard e.g. only a few vehicles entered, not of good quality.
ii Included in the marking system is an allowance for originality.
iii Class H to include CD Bradfords, Special Bodied Jupiters, one-off
factory built specials and special (non-factory fitted) bodies to any
Jowett Chassis. In the event the highest placed Jupiter will receive the
"Marcel Bequart" award.
iv The winner of each class will receive the PREMIER CONCOURS prize.
v The second in each class will receive the CONCOURS prize.
vi The third in each class will receive the CONCOURS RUNNER-UP prize.
vii Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Rally
Committee.
viii The winner of the Premier Concours prize for each appropriate class
will be judged by a separate judge - purely on a Concours basis, for
the SIDE VALVE and OVERHEAD VALVE "CAR OF THE YEAR" trophies.
ix Concours Judges’ decisions are final in all cases.
INELIGIBILITY
Any vehicle that won a PREMIER CONCOURS AWARD in both 2011
and 2012 is not eligible for entry in the 2013 concours competition.
ROADWORTHINESS
Vehicles (Bristol Crawlers excepted) must be insured, display a current tax
disc (or national equivalent) and be DRIVEN to the rally concours site to
be eligible for concours judging.
MODERN SAFETY EQUIPMENT
Vehicles will not be penalised for the addition of modern safety items
such as flashers, rear fog lights etc. unless a blatant disfiguration.
JUDGING
As judging involves internal and under bonnet inspection of the vehicle,
the owner or a representative must be present during judging. Judges
are not permitted to open bonnets, boots etc..
JUDGING FORMS
After the presentation of the trophies, and within 3 months of the rally,
the judging form for the entrant's
CONCOURS ENTRANTS ARE REQUESTED TO ATTEND
(OR NOMINATE A REPRESENTATIVE TO ATTEND)
THE AWARDS PRESENTATION ON SATURDAY 25th May.

Those who have not booked in at car registration desk at the Hampshire Court hotel on Friday evening or at the rally field before midday on Saturday will not be able to enter the concours. You must have purchased a program to enter the rally field. Programs will be available on the day, but it is preferable to purchase prior to that. You can do this on-line here after registering for Jowett On-line Services and then selecting Rally Booking, or contact Chris Spencer or Keith Clements .
Vehicles entered in the annual concours are judged in 5 categories and in 4
sub-sections of each category. A maximum of 5 points can be gained in each
sub-section making a maximum of 20 points for each category and 100 points
for each vehicle
JUDGES ARE ASKED TO PAY DUE REGARD TO ORIGINALITY BUT VEHICLES
ARE NOT TO BE PENALISED IF FITTED WITH MODERN SAFETY EQUIPMENT

Did you know that the Castrol Trophy is for the best section stand at the Jowett International Rally?

The other trophies for you pot hunters are here.
Note that some of these awards may have changed or will be changed for this year's event.

Has anybody a copy or scan of the advert that Castrol did that so offended the club and as a result they donated this and posters to the club?

Hi all,

It was good to see the Concours rules explained, but one bit surprises me.

' Vehicles (Bristol Crawlers excepted) must be covered by a
current MOT certificate'

Why do we ask for this when it is no longer a legal requirement for vehicles manufactured before 1960?

All the best,

David

David,
Well spotted! How things can change in a year!
Since vehicles in the concours must be driven to the event, we may be covered from one falling on one of our judges due to rust!

Policing the 'driven to site' is clearly difficult and is open to interpretation. How do you stop someone parking his trailer ten yards from the site and off-loading?
My views on concours may differ from some, but I do give a lot of respect to owners who use their cars rather than keeping them as show pieces.
However, I can see the desire to have stunning ,showroom condition examples.

I have ammended the 'rules'.
