In response to Paul's 6 out of 10 for the weather - Paul you are underselling us Yorkies !! the reason for the rain on the Saturday was keep the dust down and detract the locals from congesting the roads used for the secnic run - it also ensured that we provided lush green grass on which to hold the rally on the Sunday.
The reason for the overcast clouds at 4 on the Sunday was to ensure that everyone left the rally field promtly and to get to the hotel in good time for the celebration dinner.
Hence the weather in my book was 10 out of 10
If you requre any further lessons in 'Bulls***' just let me know

Had a fun night out with some of the guys from the US last night, they had been in London so me and Amy bagged some last minute theatre tickets for "Bedroom Farce" which proved to feature both in equal measure - very British humour that I think went down reasonably with everybody.
We can report that Jim and Scott have skipped the country, aided and abetted by Amy driving them to Luton airport this morning, possibly escaping as a result of our night out yesterday

Jack.

I haven't yet, but will do! The Weasel made it home with just one incident, a shaving of rubber in the main jet caused when putting the hose back on between pump and carb during my broken timing chain episode. The car covered 815 miles under its own steam (excluding the 30 miles to the hotel on a recovery truck), averaged an overall of 35mpg and I only needed to put in 1.5 pints of oil to bring it up to level when I got home. I'm now suffering from withdrawal symptoms and looking forward to Daventry!

Well I have a feeling!, Youve got 12 whole months now until the next one. As like me this rally just gone has once again renewed my enthusiasm for all things Jowett. As long as you don't keep sh*tting in the carb, you can do it!

I've sorted a few photos out and put them in a folder, but since my computer went away, before the Rally, to be 'mended', and the change of format of the Gallery site, I've tried and tried to upload them but have had no success.AlanBartlett wrote:Has anyone posted any pictures up yet? On the gallery or anywhere?
I managed to put a thumbnail on a new post in my Personal Album on the Gallery but that's about all.
Perhaps when KC comes home from his jolly I could send a CD to him and he could do the honours.
But I didn't take too many photos as everyone on the field seemed to have a camera, so hopefully Alan Brierley (JCC editor) will be inundated with snapshots.
Good to see you and your mum.
Here are three photos from my CD.
Tony.
Mogen Otterson's Sommer-bodied Jupiter
Ian Aitken-Kemp's 'Arabella'
Ian Howell's project. (Ian on the right, son James in 'shades').

Arabella is already partially stripped - bonnet and rad, etc off - ready for the engine coming out tomorrow (shopping permitting, of course !) Then I can put her original engine back in - I've fitted the rebored barrels I collected from IP at the weekend. Then she will be all ready for Daventry !!.
Seriously though I want to get a good few running-in miles under the belt before then - lets hope we have some decent weather this summer

Couple of highlights from the first few being uploaded:

Tony, if you want to send the CD to us we have web space we can upload them - they will be public domain though, and visible to anybody with an internet connection. If that's ok with you ping me a PM and I'll send you my address for CD.

A PLEA . . . . Thanks for sharing your images . . BUT . .
To all *
Thanks for sharing your images . . but . .
We all know that saying . ."a picture is worth a thousand words" (or words to that effect!). But my plea is to ask if you could PLEASE take the time to include a few words when uploading your images. Doing this makes your arty talents SO MUCH more interesting! It may only be the file name you can use to do this in some instances, but when they are loaded into the Gallery there's a great opportunity to include a much more "wordy" description . . you know . . . who's in the picture, something about the main subject, something for the viewer to note, etc. etc. With the picture all on it's own it becomes just another photo of yet another Javelin, Bradford, Prewar or Jupiter, for some of us.
Then, of course, there's the added bonus in that a search can be more easily done using Gallery to find a particular image at a later date. Especially useful is the "key words" facility.
Personally, I find the images of the pre-war cars are of great interest to me, some of these cars I have never seen and there's also the distinct possibility I'll never get to see them "in the flesh" . . . Unfortunately the same can be said for me meeting many of the humans involved. . . and for that matter going to the venue (I'm sure you've all noticed that sometimes the background and what's/who's in it can be even more intriguing than the car!).
As a aside, and I stand to be corrected, but I believe that as far as "safety of personal stuff" is concerned, The Gallery is pretty secure in comparison to other places images and their details can be uploaded to. Would someone please verify/debunk this . . . soon?
Just as a final "plug" for this plea . . . just imagine if the editors of our magazines deemed captions and explanations to go with the pictures and diagrams were unnecessary . . .
*To those who already do this. I (and other's, no doubt) really do appreciate the time you take to do this task . . .
Happy uploadin . . .

Moises, great photos, the panoramas of the back of the Jupiters and the front of the Javelins are brilliant.
Any others you've got please upload to your Flickr account, I've got a lot of research to do to finish off the SC, you'd be amazed at the useful notes I've been able to pick up from "accidental" photos.
Really impressive stuff.
Jack.
