1951 jupiter racecar

Post by Forumadmin »

hello,I found an old car in S.F. bay area.
The nameplate says jowett cars ltd.bradford,yorks model E1 SAL 124 R .
It doesent look like the regular jupiters,no doors ,tube chassis,it looks like a small race car for the street.

If you can tell me if this is a real jupiter i would appreciate it. chassis # 61A,red paint and looks like aluminum body.

Mario.

The nameplate is all that exists of E1 SAL 124. It was used to get registration for the custom built marion special. See the North American Jowett Register web site.

Hi Neil,
Cannot find the email Mario sent since it is over three years ago. If it is important I could look on some old computers!

Although I am not a Jupiter owner, nor do I live in the USA, this looks very interesting!

I appreciate that contact with the original enquirer has been 'lost', but clearly it is/was known in the USA at one time. Just because it is Special doesn't mean that it should not be regarded for its historical interest.

What is known about this Special? Does/did it have a Jowett engine? Number?

Who designed/ built it?

When?

Where?

I am just nosey!
The devil is in the detail!

I think Neil explained, the only bit of Jowett is the nameplate! So not really of much interest to us....
