There's newly uploaded, a further mention of racing Jowetts and also of Gerald Palmer and his Delroy sports car to be found in the Magazine Section of the Gallery at: TOPIC . . . They're from a good while back in time though!

P.S. To the Legacy team. I hope I did this upload using the correct format and method etc. Please let me know if I didn't do it "proper" :( Please feel free to do whatever's needed to make corrections . . . . My EXCUSE? I'm afraid since my general anaesthetics in rapid succession, my mind has gone a bit numb. I find I'm having to re-learn quite a bit of my "computer skills"! :( Other memories are a bit soggy too . . . Hmmmm, maybe it's something else that happens to old buggers' brains . . . it's just that I can't remember the name of the problem just now! :D

Leo,
Uploaded OK and format is OK.

Alistair is busy at the moment, so may not be processed very soon.

I can do some of it when I have time. The facsimile of the article can be tidied up as there is an overlap, and then it can be optically character read so that it can be searched.

Just keep them coming. Especially those FlatFour back copies.

Thanks for the encouragement Keith.

Is this what you are referring to by "overlap?

If so, it must have happened in transmission as it looks alright on the original as submitted from this end. I'll delete the one that's on the Gallery and have another go tonight. Incidentally, I think you'll find that the .pdf docs are already able to be searched (well they should be, as that was one of the processes I used, along with optimising the file). I had decided to do all this to make the files "all ready to go" . . . !

The Flat Four project may still be a wee way off as the state of my health's still "somewhat disappointing", in spite of the attention I have been given and the small fortune I have cost. I can't do much in the way of physical things (walk 50 meters and I'm stuffed! . . . breathless and puffing and physically tired. Rest for a few minutes and I'll do another 50 meters. I'm afraid there's lots to catch up on around here (and stuff that's been started to finish off too), so although I had made a undertaking way back to do the digitising of Flat Four it's of necessity been put on the "back burner". Sorry team! :(

By the way . . . I don't see you on Skype these days :). Our chats have been missed (by me anyway :) )

I tried opening the file with Adobe Pro Extended and I am unable to do some of the editing functions on some selected areas. It is possible a transmission error caused the problem as it looks liek the jpg part of the pdf has been repeated. Please email me a copy when you put it in the Gallery.

I do not go on Skype at all now. Time is the enemy!

Keith.

I have found that the fault illustrated below actually originates at my end. There seems to be a problem in "optimising" using Acrobat 9 Pro on my iMac. Any setting of optimising (including default) does that same "overlapping" of the text as shown. I even did a total rescan of the magazine page (Canon Pixma MP610). That scan to .PDF, looks quite okay as did the original scan I did, and I then repeated the entire optimising exercise including several different optimising settings from maximum to minimum . . still the same problem in the same area!

I could try to check out how all this behaves on Acrobat (Pro Extended) when using XP I guess, and might do so when I get time and have switched to Windows on this iMac. The switching only takes a moment . . . . but it's the mucking about that takes the time . . !

I have uploaded the original scan, without it being optimised, to the Gallery so as to replace the one that's there (and also e-mailed it to you, as you requested). It's 1.1mb in it's present form.

From this end the Deroy .pdf looks as if it could do with a better version too, so I'll re-submit that too . . . The "new" one is just 815kb.

PS. (and sometime later) Keith, I'm sorry to be a nuisance to such a busy man, but would you please delete my files that are OUTSIDE the Classic and SportsCar folder . . they somehow "escaped" going into the intended and correct place . . . INSIDE the Classic and SportsCar folder! The offending ones are "Ardmore and Dunedin" and "The Deroy". There are copies of those files inside the Classic and SportsCar folder, after my second try!
Thanks a million.
Leo.
