On behalf of Amy, Keith, Jack & myself I am humbled in announcing that the Jowett Jupiter SC 'TTD 88' is the winner of the of 'Classic Car Car of the Year 2010' !! We are ecstatic - especially when you see the other cars that we were upaginst. We could not have done this without the support of our families, friends, fellow Jowetteers and all that voted for us - Thankyou. The car will shortly be placed on to its stand within the Classic Car Show at the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) in Birmingham - which opens in the morning and goes on until Sunday evening. If you get the chance to attend it would be great to see you. Midlands section also have a strong attendance and display at the show. Obviously Amy, Keith & Jack will be posting their own blogs once I get them down off the ceiling. Watch this space for the photos !!!

Our mission now is to exploite the media / pubicity has much as possible in order to gain the club as much positive publicity as possible !!

I wishto add my congratulations to Amy, Jack, Keith and Chris for all of their efforts that have culminated in winning the big one. As one who spent a small amount of time in the Clements garage, as they worked to get their car ready to go to Wakefield, I know the conditions and the pressure in which they worked so hard, the down side when the steering broke, and the determination to resolve the problem.

I hope that Amy and Jack enjoy their beautiful car for many years.

I've already posted my congratulations for the 50's category, but this is something else!, but in the euphoria surrounding this fantastic achievement, don't forget to keep Noel Stokoe in the loop. He has very many contacts, and is our Club's elected Publicity Officer.

WOW That's wonderful news and so very much deserved, Team SC !!

Each and every day I have been following the whole saga of the restoration and also for the preparation for the "Big Assault" on the whole nation's best Classic Cars . . . and you pulled it off.
I well remember that feeling of being so "high" that ones feet hardly touch the ground, when my car won the "Best Car of the Show" in a National show in Wellington in 1983!
I'm SO happy for you . . .

One thing I'll be doing very soon is contacting all on my mailing list that I sent out the message with the plea for votes from New Zealand, so as to let them know of the success that their votes had contributed to.

Woooo Hooooooo !

Firstly may I congratulate all the team for their hard work and continual regular reports in these pages in attaining the ultimate of not only ‘1950’s classic of the year’ but ‘The Classic of the Year’ award. Well done to you all. This is fantastic news. Just what Jowetts require. Let us make the most of it and project Jowetts into the lime light, that they deserve.

The team work that was involved in getting the Jupiter completed and to attain the said award has been fantastic. The thought of free beer, would enthuse anybody!!! However, we must not forget the other unsung enthusiasts, either working alone or in groups, who on the quiet have been working away in various corners of the world to attain similar goals. You have publicised it and brought the idea and hard work to the forefront. You have attained the publicity and notoriety for all.

With regards to publicity, Jack you have always been on about getting publicity and advising how easy it is to get within the classic motoring press. Well now is your golden opportunity for you to show us all how easy it is!! Just think of the possibilities:
• ‘the rhubarb run in the classic of the year car 2010’
• ‘The classic of the year calls at every Morrisons Petrol station in the country’- you could get some mileage
from that I am sure
• Footman James could use your car as a advertising prop
• Full colour write ups
• Front page in the classic motoring press – Who needs Joanna Lumley! Lets have Amy in her bikini on the
bonnet and you in your speedos! – on second thoughts perhaps we will forget about you in your speedos that
might do more damage than good!

Being serious ‘Well done to you all’

There appears to be a couple of unsung heroines in of all this, Jenny and Sharron.

Just because she didn't fall asleep at the side of the car, or staple herself to it, doesn't mean Jenny wasn't a key part of the team, Sharron too, although when approached at Wakefield she admitted it was great to know that Chris wasn't loitering without intent, and that it was a lot more peaceful at Spencer towers when the "token grumpy Northerner" was busy elsewhere :D

Well, I have managed to get back from the NEC to watch a game of rugby, following meetings with journalists, interviews, photographs, and a couple of late nights celebrating, we are all extremely grateful and happy with the result.

So far we have confirmed an article with Classic Car Weekly covering the story, this will probably be published on Wednesday, and Amy is meeting with the team from Practical Classics this afternoon/evening.

We are on the Lancaster Insurance stand at the NEC, who sponsored the competition, so if anyone would like to see us we'll be there all day tomorrow and then home for a very well earned rest tomorrow evening.

On the stand we have had a large number of people talk to us about the cars, and have been able to direct a number of them to the JCC stand which is an impressive construction with large numbers of Midlands Section Members talking to the public and friends. I understand they have also been sending a few up our way once they leave the stand, so hopefully this is doing a great deal for promotion of the marque. They've also had a lot of interest in some of the slightly different vehicles and engines they've got on the stand, which is grabbing a lot of attention from everyone.

Of course we will be following up the show with as much publicity as we can for the car and the club, now we have the attention of the media now is the time for us to strike while the iron is hot. Peter, thank you for your enthusiasm and ideas, and I have always said that if we make it easy for the press they will work with us and help us, they certainly seem very interested in the cars being something different to the usual cars they see and write stories about, and we seem to have got noticed and been able to talk about all the great things happening in the club right now, which was the most important thing all along.

Jack.
