One fifth scale working Javelin engine!

Post by Tim Neville »

I have obtained some information and photos from 1955 of a model Javelin. The working engine was mainly machined from solid! The photos show an interesting chassis for the model - not a Javelin but looking (to my eyes) more like, or similar to, something else we all know. A label 'R3' is attached to the chassis.
Anybody else heard of this or know anything about it?
If folks are interested I could compile the whole set of photos and information and put it in the Gallery.

It was first featured in the UK "Model Engineer", I believe . . . I have a copy of the Jupiter and engine article somewhere (I think)!

Indeed, the value of archives.
I have the 'Model Engineer' with the complete article re. the engine, which shows the engine and chassis, but which makes no mention in the text of the chassis being a Jupiter.
