It's nice to see the forum membership numbers continuing to climb - could we get to 400 members by the time we we reach 10,000 posts ??? - However, the number of members that have joined the forum but never posted is quite high - It's your forum and there to be used - the keyboard is not out to bite you !

So please come on use the Forum, we want to hear of difficulties, success's, triumphs (mainly Jowett ones) and tragedies. How can we present the Jowett Marque to the world at large, as it should be, at the top of the tree?

I disagree, on the forums I own and moderate I have access to the actual Amin CP and the server access.logs.
These indicate that many members access simply to keep upto date with events or use for reference.
This is making use, they dont need to have to post stuff.

There are many people that take and do not give. Posting on the forum is giving, just like being involved in the running of the club you belong to. That said if people do find JowettTalk useful to read like a daily newspaper or club magazine then we have acheived part of its objective.

But what has happened to the 'Section' bits? Have they been abandoned in the (worthy) interests of club unity?

Far better that than fill up forums data base with a heap of general crap about nothing
Then in a couple yrs someone starts searching for info then gets 100 hits to sort thru

OH bit of useless info..my Son has spent 2 1/2 yrs building from scratch a RX7..body, panel. paint, electrical looms, porting, polishing, suspension etc himself.
Turned out a damn straight car that gets up an booggies quite respectable.
Some A55h0les stole it from his home last sat night...and broke into his wifes skyline

So Jack, thats what a holiday to Crete does, turns you into a modern day philosopher. Well I suppose Socrates and Archimedes all came from that neck of the woods, but Hipocrates, Moon, Aristotle, doesn't have quite the same ring does it.

Like most new members approaching classic car ownership with some trepidation my first concern was to try and understand what I was letting myself in for. Having an active local club was essential and the technical help from Chris, John, David, Nigel et al plus the welcome of their partners in the Severnside branch was a major factor in choosing a Jowett.

Your website is good, but you have all been on it for some time and it’s not that easy to get connected (see separate thread) but that’s all water under the bridge – I’m one of the connected now.

My first activity, given limited surfing time, was to explore the Javelin section and look at the various manuals posted separately. It’s all good stuff and useful for when needed. The process for downloading technical manuals is a bit of a pain, but then I guess you only do it once..

I’ve only just got round to this section as I assumed that it would be mainly gossip between Joweteers who know each other and are organising events. Not totally true…

On a separate thread I’ve actually posted a request, but before daring to do so I explored as much as I could. What fascinates me is that following links you can suddenly get shot off into a totally different Jowett website, which also has useful stuff. I particularly liked the scan of the booklet celebrating 50 years of Jowett production, but it’s not exactly easy to find.

As I understand it the JCC has had a web “presence” for over 30 years. What you’ve set up is great and well done to all who created and maintain it, but it might be worth thinking about spending some money on getting a makeover to form the basis for the on-going expansion of the site.

Left as it is the website will continue to be a useful library and no doubt most of you mainly use it for these “discussion group“ sections, but it seems to have hidden depths and the legacy idea is great but will benefit from a database/website to match.

Grand to hear from you and I'm delighted your colleagues in the Severnside section are helping you become more confident in your ownership of a Classic Car.

I see you are aware of the Legacy project and see its benefits. The project is keen to involve as many people as we can in protecting all Jowett information. We understand the desire to update our web site, however we are working without budget and in our spare time. Generally people interested in old cars are just that, interested in old cars and computers are of little interest. We are a small club (around 600 strong) and consequently don't have the cash to spend on new websites as per the Jag and Aston clubs. I am keen to hear of any thoughts you might have to improve the clubs image and any ways we can make finding our information easier must be investigated. I would be delighted to involve you should you be interested in the design of our website and the ongoing Legacy data acquisition.

We are a big family and hope you find us that way and look forward to hearing from you.
