I am getting used to the new 'cleaner' looking format and I am sure a great deal of work has gone into it but, and I may be missing a point here (no change then!) I do miss the apparent loss of the 'View Previous Topic' and 'View posts since last visit' features.

Is it just that I don't know where to look?

On the main forum page, if you click on the top left "View New Posts" that gives you the smae thing as new posts since last visit.

Not sure on the other one, previous topic query, but it will be in the software somewhere. Usually these things are on the front forum page and a link goes from there, have a good scan and you might find the link you want.

'View Previous Topic' ?

What was that. I have looked on the old forum and cannot see what you mean.

When you went to open a topic, there was a line above that said 'view previous topic'.

This took you back to the previous subject under discussion in the relevant section, and when you did then it changed to 'view next topic'.

Thanks for the other info. I will look more carefully!"

Searching

Post by Keith Clements »

Whilst investigating an issue for Noel Stokoe I was looking through the JG event log and noticed a lot of failed attempts at viewing pictures.
This is quite normal as any view of a topic that contains images on JG that are not public will throw up this error.

But I was looking to see if this was trawling by unauthorized people or BOTS with my security hat on. It was not, but someone searching for a 'Javelin PB Wiring Diagram' (only registered users can search JT) which I deduced from looking at what is called the 'referring URL'. A trace route on the searcher's IP address showed me this was somebody in Australia. (I could find out who this was by looking through the JT logs, if I was so inclined.)

I thought this was good in that someone put in a complex search on JT but that it is bad in that they probably did not find out what they wanted as they did not have access to the Gallery item. Unless they subsequently read the panel at the top of every JT page! :D They may have just logged on, or they may now register on JG or you never know they may join the JCCA!

Forgiveness please if the searcher is now reading this.
