Thanks Paul. The pistons were Wellworthy 1179's but I guess as long as they weigh the same the make wouldn't matter.
I have removed the old rings but of course they broke up coming out. I have 'cleaned up' the piston and at a pinch I guess it is reusable with new rings.
I might keep the engine as a 'demo' to possibly take to local farm shows in which case it doesn't have to be A1.

Baffle plate screws
Hi Ian.
I've a feeling that whilst the greater majority of screw threads on the pre-wars are BSF, the counter-sunk screws holding the baffle plates on are Whitworth.
Just an observation which I hope George will comment upon.

Yes, I've checked them - they are 3/16th Whit. Have just ordered some from the net.
The reason the baffle was 'bent' inwards was because the brass plate was being pulled into the 'recess' inside the c'case wall. The reason there was no screw in the bottom hole of the c'case (pic 2 on 5th June posting) was because it didn't line up with the tapping in the brass plate !!
