Update please.
Now then Alan,
It's been some time since we answered all your queries about the restoration of your family's Long saloon, and I'll probably speak for most of us that it was a pleasure to help you sort everything out.
I've just read all the posts again, and was amazed at the number of Jowetteers that decided to suggest things to help you on your way.
But it seems as though you've hibernated, and I was just wondering if everything was OK with your car, and if we're going to see it again at Bideford.
Perhaps an update with the latest news will be of interest to quite a number of your friends.
Tony.

Out of Hibernation
Good morning all,
Aplogise for the recent decline in activity on here. The reason being Ive been snowed under with work. As my current job is restoring classic cars. unfortunatly not Jowetts but MG's.
A progress report I hear you ask, well, the car is currently off the road, has been since christmas, was I think my last post about piston rings. As I took the engine apart for a clean and paint. And discoverd a broken piston ring, fortunatly the bores were and still are in good condtion. Since then Ive sent the orignal block off to be re white metaled. In my bundle of jowett spares Id found a couple of cranks shafts, and sent the best of the two along with it so I could get the orginal engine back in running order to match numbers and for orginality . This was 2 months ago about febuary time. They found the crank to be cracked, so I stripped down the 8hp block and supplied that one which was found to be good
.
Ive also started to tart up little bits and tidy things up. But at the moment where I sent the block to, is giving me the bit of the run around, and is giving me lots of excuses as to why he hasnt done it, so today I'm going to get back on to him and sort it out so I can get it built up in time for bideford.
Another problem which has arisen is I may not be able to drive it to bideford, not because of current status, but current status of my driving license, as I got pulled over about a month ago by the fuzz, for aparently not having insurance, which to my knowledge I was un aware of, and because of this I may have a ban or something, so its out of my hands at the moment but will keep you updated when I can. Either way it will either be there by trailer or driven. Or lots of progress photos. I shall keep you posted. Thanks for your interest feel free to contact me via email or mobile. Cause I'm always on the move at the moment.

Alan and the Long 7
Hello Alan,
Thanks for putting us all out of our misery and sorry to hear of yours (misery). However of the three options for Bideford one and two preferable but three if nothing else can be done. Is the chap doing the white metal likely to be someone that any member of this club knows. You never know we might be able to bring some pressure to bear.

Unfortunatly due to circumstances out my control the seven will not be at bideford. As due to the fact my licence has been revoked, and I am no longer covered to drive. In other words I have to retake all the tests again to get my licence back which a complete load of sillyness. I thought another way round it would be to drive on the provisonal under L plates, but as I cannot get insured to drive the car on L plates as a learner which I am not the whole situation is turning into a bit of a mess. Just thought I'd keep people updated

Lack of Long 7 at Bideford
Sorry to hear this on several counts. I don't know the details nor do I need to, but I can speak for all of us (JCC Members that is) we wish the results were different than they are.
I trust you will be along anyway as its just down the road from you!

Well only 2 weeks away until bideford, that was last years, rally, how time has flown by. Its now about 60 days until Wakefield, and well I think I maybe cutting it a little close on this one yet again. So far over the course of the year Ive rebuilt the front axle, had the body off, chassis painted, rewired it again and painted most accessories. And put the body back on. I am still waiting on the engine but for different things this time. Ive had the wheels powder coated as well as the picnic rack to be done. I'm not in the middle of putting the doors back on and wings. Unfortunetaly it will not be painted prime and proper yet. I'm just hoping to get it back on the road for wakefield. So watch this space.

Re: Update please.
Here are a few picture of some progress over the last year and a bit. Coming on steadily. I'm in the process of re-assembling the engine for the final time. Just awaiting the bored cylinders, and hopefully she will be running again for the summer, its been far too long already

Re: Update please.
It was fresh paint, but only to test it to see what it would look like, thats all done with spray can, from that angle you can't see the grand national of runners. I rather like the green how it turned out, next step is to order some proper cellulose and paint it properly.
