FREE BEER! (aka the great SC rebuild party)

Post by Amy »

Yes, really. And pizza.

All in exchange for a bit of your time and expertise :)

You may have seen from this thread (http://jowett.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t ... sc&start=0) that we are rebuilding my SC. We're doing pretty well, and he's definitely beginning to look more like a Jupiter, but in order to have him on the road in time for Wakefield, we're going to need a bit more help.

I'm sure Clements senior will be along shortly with details of the main things that need doing, but in no particular order we still need to:

- finish making the boot pan
- fix the boot lock
- install gearbox and engine
- sort out master cylinder, finish off a couple of brake pipes, test the brakes
- fix the handbrake
- install wiring loom, hook up to all relevant electrics...

Oh, and sand, fill and paint all of the bodywork however many times it takes to finish them (I've done the first sanding, now we just need to beat, fill, sand, paint, sand, paint, etc... ).

What I'm proposing is this:

We will provide beer, pizza / other takeaway (and beds if necessary) together with entertaining banter and embarassing stories about Clements senior in return for your time and Jowett expertise.

Dates that I suggest are:

March 6/7
March 20/21
April 3/4
May 1/2/3 (bank holiday weekend)

And if we're not on the MOT stretch by then we're a bit stuffed anyway, so I won't suggest any more dates :)

If you are willing and able to make any of the above, please post below so we can keep track of who's planning on turning up. If you're likely to need a bed for the night, please also say so and we'll make sure that's sorted out.

It goes without saying that we'd be incredibly grateful for any help, and it'd be wonderful to be able to drive the SC to Wakefield.

Thanks in advance,
Amy (aka Clements Junior).

Hello Amy.

It's been long time since we last "talked". (I seem to recollect that you were still at University!).

I'm sorry I can't be with the busy working bee team in person this time. I'm afraid that all the local DeLorian's fitted with the Time Machine accessory* are fully booked, or I'd be there! :) ) But, I can offer you my thoughts and very best wishes . . and the best of LUCK too, so as to prevent setbacks.

I believe you are very fortunate in regards to your adult apprentice (young Keith) being available to be employed at such a low rate of renumeration on this very important endeavour. To me, he does seem to be coming along quite well and fortunately appears to have a natural ability with the Jowett marque cars . . especially the Jupiter models! But, I'm also sure the rest of the team of easily bribed "volunteers" will be just (about) as competent . . Mmmm . . Pizza and beer (after work has finished for the day I presume :) )

All the best, Leo.

BTW. If I do manage to obtain a cancellation on a time machine for one or more of your scheduled work days, I won't bother you for a overnight bed . . I'll just pop home to my own little cot a few hours after the nosh-up on the (all natural?) beer and (vegetarian?) pizza!

Leo.

Ah, sorry, I didn't consult your social secretary before popping the dates up ;)

List duly amended, though we're rather lacking in beer-drinkers so far...

Roll up, roll up!

Yes, the first of the SC Rebuild parties is nearly upon us... 6/7 March

On the party menu so far are:

- Welding and fitting doors
- Final fitting of the exhaust
- Fitting brake master cylinder and (hopefully) finishing off the braking system
- Lots of bodywork..!

As promised, suitable party food and drink will be in plentiful supply for all attendees, as will barrier cream and swarfega ;)

Do let us know if you're coming, and the more the merrier. See you on Saturday!

Things are coming along. Exhaust had its final fit care of Jack and Amy after I did some rebending of the pipe to relieve strain on the exhaust manifold. Jack fitted the master cylinder having to make up a pipe whilst Amy cleaned and painted the underneath of the rear section before its final fit. I finished the fabfricatiion of one door.

Brakes were filled with fluid but discoverd one bleed nipple was cross threaded so the rear cylinder has been taken out to try to rectify.

Another long day planned today. Hope to see some mor people!

Amy, Keith et alia,

I see on your daily schedule that on May 1/2/3 you have listed "steering column boot". If this article needs to be made, you might find this image useful. If you want it, I might even be able to lay my hands on the pattern used to make this one and scan it, (with some luck!).

PATTERNS

Post by Leo Bolter »

I'm sorry Keith, my semi-remembered patterns of some Jupiter bits seem to have diminished to a vanishing point! :( No steering and gear change boot pattern have been found, in other words. Maybe I lent them . . . :(

I can supply all Javelin outrigger/jacking point patterns* though . . so just let me know when you finish the Jup and start in on a Jav body :D Oh, and in case you ever need them, I have patterns for a robust Bolter Designed tow bar for a Princess too!

*These are the sort of things that could/should go into the "Legacy Project" pile, I believe . . . .

Gosh, well that's our work cut out for this weekend then. Clements junior (me) and Jack will be on hand - I've also taken leave on Monday so can finish off any bits from the list we've not got round to / start on the next list / sort out any unexpected bits we discover this weeked (not that that would ever happen, not on a Jowett... )

So that's three of us - let me know how many more of you to expect so I know how much pizza and beer to get :)
