I have just spent the evening designing a stop/turn/trafficator /hazard system using 3 double pole change over relays
The first picture shows the stop lamp switch closed with indicators off putting both stop lamps on via the red circuit.
The second shows the left indicator switch, which is on, feeding the trafficator through the ( off ) hazard relay (green circuit) whilst the flasher unit is activated via the left relay grounding through the left indicator lamps (blue circuit). Note that if the stop light switch is activated the right rear lamp comes on, whilst the left remains flashing.
The hazard relay disconnects the trafficators so they do not burn out and feeds both indicator relays to flash all four lights.

Looks good, :) When I did my javelin I could only get single pole automotive relays so lend-ed up using 4 relays. The other option is the brake/indicator relay from a MGA.

Also could modify the trafficators so that they flash (some lucas models had this option) as there is two wires from the Batt terminal one for the coil and one for the lamp(parallel cct to coil), Disconnect the lamp one and terminate with fly-lead and wire terminal, then connect to flash cct semaphore will then stay up and the lamp will flash.

Thanks Bryan but £88 for two relays is a bit steep. The same unit is available for £60 http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/167

But even so! I reckon you need relays to handle two 21W bulbs or 7Amps. This is only 3.5 Amps through each switch pole.

Or you could use two SPDT rather than one DPDT.
30A SPDT Auto 12Vdc Code: N00AW £1.98

The hazard relay perhaps needs to be more as it switches all four or the trafficators, so two SPDTs might be cheaper and easier.

Since I will be using those for the other relays (even though most are SPST applications) , I can standardise on the single type so giving spares.
