Boot Rack

Post by Forumadmin »

I saw that somebody was thinking about making some bott racks for the Jup. Well https://www.europaspares.com/STYLING___ ... _3541.html
has them for about £55. You could fit the rubber pads supplied which I do not recommend as it will dent the body work. I have welded brackets onto the frame under the bodywork and fitted posts through holes in the bodywork to attach to the legs.

Dear Keith,

You seem to have been browsing a bit lately!

The boot rack on my Jupiter came, I believe, from a MGA. I have seen the same racks on several MGs. I can't put too much weight on mine, as it is not supported beyond the aluminium panel. It fits the panel curvature very well. The two bearers are made from spring steel.

I tried the rubber pads version when I first obtained the car and a holiday in far north Scotland soon put four severe dents in the rear panel.

Maybe a suitcase rack can be devised that sits on posts that pass through rubber grommets in the rear panel so that the body can continue to flex unrestricted.

Worth a thought.

Regards,

Mike A.

Boot rack

The boot rack on my Jupiter is supported by brackets bolted to the side panels below the rear skin. The skin is sandwiched with rubber gaskets and then stainless plates which support the boot rack above and become part of the lower brackets. The whole assy is solid and can take any weight up to about 100 kilo. Not had any problems at all since fitted. Drummond
