8 HP - Known survivors
I have recently purchased a 1937 8 HP registration number DXP 729 - this was owned by the late club member Tom Bellamy who lived in Canterbury - I am attempting to assertain how many examples out of the 2888 built have survived - with the file I recieved with the car is undated correspondance from Sheila Rigg stating that only 2 known examples were known of - one belongs to her farther Frank Cooke and one owned by Peter Rodgers. More to the point If either of the forementioned owners or anyone else who has a 8 HP would like to get in touch with me I need to take a number of detailed images to faciliate the rebuild of mine as it has been purchased in a stripped condition - it shall be a few years before it sees the road again but it wll be another survivor to the make. (I have just posted my memebership application to Sheila)

I think I can help you here.
I know of at least three eight's which are currently in the ownership of club member's
I own CKW141 a 1938 model which has been in our family for 30 years. I also know of two other Eights one belonging to our esteemed Vice Chairman Geoff Wills and another owned by one of our North-West section members.
Both these two models are in the process of restoration. Though I think Geoff's is more or less on the road.
If your coming to next years JNR in Wakefield, then you will see my car together with possibly Geoff's and maybe a few other's

Paul - many thanks - I shall be heading to Wakefield next year - it is a long hike from London but I shall combine it with visiting relatives who are just down the road in my former home town of Barnsley - made eaiser by using the Rover (slightly harsh on the wallet with only 17 MPG) - any work on the car is on hold for now until we relocate out of London (proberbly to Surrey - but who knows) in the coming year - hence the car is in dry storage - intrestingly the pervious owner had owned the car from new

I have a feeling that Alan Benewith has an 8 in running order over in Surrey?
Anyway Chris - good luck with the rebuild. You are in good company as several of the regular correspondents here either have repaired / restored, or are in the throes of restoring / repairing, various early Jowetts.
If you get 'stuck', just ask. You never know . . . .
