Something which intrigues me somewhat is trying to understand the Jowett engine numbering system. I have obviously read the sections in Ed's book where he talks of the start of the new 'low' series and the ongoing'high' series numbers. And Ed mentions that there followed a series prefixed with a 9. Now, I have in stock an engine numbered 92230. I am not keen to strip it down yet because it isa good working spare. But can anybody tell me: were all 9 series engines full series 3 engines, coming as they did right at the end of production, or did Jowett stamp up 'any ' old blocks they had in hand?
Any body have the slightes idea what the highest 9 series engine might have been?
