Hello Tom, Yes I do have a RHD rack for you, and am looking for a LHD unit so we are both happy!
I dont know the condition of this rack, it came with chassis SA 910. I will take a look at it and let you know.
If there are other parts specifically for RHD you need, let me know also, as I am only interested in rebuilding a car as LHD anyway.
Will call you, regards Vic

Jupiter Steering Rack

Vic, Tom and myself spoke a few days ago on this subject. I have a NEW LHD steering box. ( Alloy part only ) The rack was converted to suit a RHD car that is nearly on the road in Scotland. The box is not interchangeable with RHD.

Hi Vic , It was good to meet you and your son in Devon to hand over Joe Leech's steering rack
Joe says he will keep the dashboard for you to collect but could you send the gearchange directly to him at

BD22 7QY telephone number 44 1535645251 as he is now ready to fit it as the write off is now ready to repaint and has been built onto Mike Chevers old chassis as the chassis was not savable after the accident
When both cars are back on the road we would like some pictures

Rather Bent Chassis

Post by Alastair Gregg »

Hello Tom/Joe/Drummond.

When you say the Chassis was not salvable do you have any pictures, as the man I used to do my restoration up in Darlington has Chassis aligning equipment and seems to be able to summon miracles from I know not where. If you send me some pictures I will forward to him and make enquiries as sadly they are unlikely to make to many more Jupiter Chassis's, therefore we should not let go of any if its humanly possible (or financially viable) to do so.

Hi Alastair
joe had the chassis pulled straight but the body would not fit and was about 2inches out although it looks perfect He came over and measured mine and from this we deduced that the angle between the rear upright large tube and the main tube which is strengthened by angle iron has closed up a few degrees, this is hardly surprising as the Mercedes Sprinter hit him at about 80mph
I do not know what the prognosis of this chassis is but Joe has now rebuilt the car on my old chassis which was left behind when Mike Chevers went to France so the car has a new log book and registration RPL I think
If anyone wants the chassis I am sure that Joe would sell it so please ask
