Looking for a key for locks stamped 27

Post by Srenner »

Hello to all.

I am trying to find one kind Jowett owner whose Jupiter or Javelin uses a key that fits their ignition switch stamped with "27". I'm looking to get a copy of your key!

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Hi Scott,

I assume the key you are looking for is actually MRN 27, the same as several Jupiters here in Oz.

A couple of years ago I was in England and went to the huge autojumble at the National Exhibition Centre near Birmingham (Midlands) in winter. There was a stall holder with a large board of original automotive keys. He had quite a few MRN 27 keys. I bought one for my car.

There should be someone in England who would be going to that autojumble and get one for you.

If yours is actually MRN 27 I could get one cut locally, but it wouldn't be the real Wilmott Breeden item. Probably some awful looking Chinese interpretation!

Regards,

Mike Allfrey.

They are a brilliant supplier.

Hi Scott,

If the key you are looking for is MRN 27, don't worry. I have had a dig amonst my 'treasures' and found a spare new key. Consider it yours if MRN 27 is what you need.

It is a genuine Wilmott Breeden 'Union' key.

Keeping Jupiters on the road is what matters most.

Let me know and it will be posted to you.

Key

Post by Srenner »

Hello Mike:

I really should check this forum every day!

Thanks for the offer! Of course. what a bonus that it is an original type key.Years ago, I bought the last couple of Union key blanks hangng in the wall at my local shop.

Two locksmiths here had no interest in trying to disassemble the locks without a key. My old locksmith used to impression a new key by working it slowly into the lock, but he retired.
