If you only look at this Section of JowettTalk then you must be a 'Bradford Nut'

This being so, have a look at the website:-

They're doing what many of us have dreamed of, and are making a good fist of it.

Three Bradford pickups named 'WAIT', 'AND' and 'SEE' are crossing Australia West to East.

There's also an email address if you want to talk to the Jowetteers riding on these vehicles.

I'd post one of their photos to whet your appetites, but I'm afraid there's a copyright issue. This aside, there's probably going to be some sort of record of the trip available in the near future.

It's a mammoth undertaking.

I'm (sad person that I am) rushing home from work each day to see how they are getting on. They are updating the website as they can by e mailing text and photos on their mobile phones connected to a laptop as they go, and of course when they can get a signal. They appear to be currently in a very remote area as they havn't updated for two days.

What an adventure, Lands end to John o groats is not quite as dramatic is it. Any ideas chaps, there is currently a Javelin in Croatia!

Agreed the road trains are pretty impressive.

But the price of Petrol!!!!,

its nearly worth flying over there with as many jerry cans as you can carry. $2.07 (the most expensive) equates to approx 95 pence. We are paying around Â£1.09 to Â£1.20.

But lets not get sidetracked. This is an outstanding effort well worth international Jowett support. Well done Aus

Bill & Sue have been talking about the trip across Austrialia for some time. They have done a lot of hard work in restoring the three Bradfords, planning the trip, setting up the website, setting up specific points to stop and arranging a great deal of good publisity for Jowetts and particularry Bradfords. I take my hat of to them and congratulate them and all their friends in what they have achieved.

However, I do feel that there are other members of the Australian Jowett Car Club that deserve equal praise for their achievements in Bradfords.

For example Brian Hehir who has now travelled from Western Austrailia to the East and back, to attend rallys by Bradford 10 times, including one return trip running in Bills spare engine.

In addition Ian Hepton, with his Bradford on small wheels, undertock a round Austrialia trip last year, of which I have heard nothing.

Would it be possible for these explorers to colate their stories and publish them in the Jowetteer, the flat four and the Javelin, or even as a seperate publication with full colour phots etc..[/img][/url]

These road trips...was talking to a of the Camaro few guys in the States
Im mean THEY ARE IMPRESSED
Espc when the realise they are more often than not done without support vechiles...

And they have no real idea just what the outback is like or huge other than a few pictures...Add to that many off thses Aussies doing so would be considered senior citizens!!!!

One of them asked when one of these trips would be on the Discovery TV channel......

Now THAT could very well be a cool suggestion...get a film crew to follow the trip...maybe even Rove (Aussies and Kiwis will know who Rove is)

Bottom line , I take my hat off to all of them...(and I do wear a hat.)
They deserve far more reconition they have,

Keith, I totallt agree with your sentiments.

An adventure in the making. I have done Land's End to John O'Groats in a Jupiter

( in winter , mark you ). It was gruelling and their trip was THREE times longer.

The concept of the outback or crossing it is totally alein to any non Aussie
Let alone crossing in a couple Bradfords at 45mph, lucky to get to 1 town to another in a day...and the 'town' if u could call it that, carry all your own water ,gas its not as if u cn just pull off into a countryside picnic area for lunch...the dust, road trains
Its not like one can drive across death valley in a day.
The Nullabour thats not an aborigenee name....its Latin and named for good reason.
Land's End to John O'Groats the concept just can not compare.
One can jump in the jupiter, little preparation, if things go wrong call into garage or motel or use the cell phone or get to a phone....in the outback people just die.

Some of these Jowetters who have beening doing these trips, thay are not going thru a mid life crisis...they are close to and past their use by date...they are no wimps..or put bluntly they are tough ba5ta5ds

Whilst tootling accross the outback, they took vast amounts of video and stills I am reliably informed. It has currently gone very quiet, the reason for this is that they are having it all profesionally edited. The intention is that a DVD will become available, March 2009 ish. I have put my name down for a copy.

Hello Tony,

I e-mailed Neil Moore and he said he would try to remember my details. I thought to myself that I would assist him in that endevour. If more folks are interested then maybe we should contact Tom Chapman and suggest he gets it in the Jowett shop, I suspect it is likely to be about Â£15.00 but that is only a guess.

Anyone else out there interested?

I will happily liase with Tom if this is something that Tony and I are not alone in.

If not I will organise the purchase and shipping for you and I Tony, we have to look after our pensioners
