New zealand visit
Well , here we are and within 24 hours of arriving I have driven TWO Jupiters and spent 3 hours at the " SHED " with six other New Zealand members. A night to remember for a long time. The work that they carry out there certainly helps to further the Jowett cause. Thanks lads, you made my night.

Economy run
Well Keith, It's just possible a Bradford might beat one of Uncle Sams motors in the economy run so if you wanted to win, go Jowett power
Compliments of the Season,

Well I was competive last yr..actually better than one jowett
http://www.jowettnz.sytes.net/Nthrecev07.html
If current fuel prices were still where they where a few months ago would be right up there in the running... over 33mpg worked out on equivilent cost per mile lol
The yr before the Bradford actually won out of the jowetts.

Hi Drummond and Ruby.
We look forward with much anticipation to your phone call this weekend. There's a big (by local standards) Vintage Car Club swop meet and car show at Feilding (a neighboring town) tomorrow which I'm afraid you will miss, but I will go anyway. If you ring from a land line to my land line in the evening Saturday, or Sunday anytime, we can have a cheaper chat (the Scottish ancestry in me may be coming out!). If you don't already know the NZ details, do you have anything in your Javelin history and/or photos with you to indicate the Registration Number, car/engine number etc. . . . we maybe able to find the previous owners in NZ.
Hi Andrew,
Anyway that's enough rambling on . . . my excuse is that I COULD be delirious . . . I'm getting over a nasty cold!
* They are called petrol stations now . . . there's NO service anymore.
Yours in delirium, Leo

Hi Andrew,
Many years ago the JCC of NZ Club Economy Runs included a magic formula to give results that ended up with Ton/MPG. This to accommodate varying weight (passengers, spare parts, petrol, picnic lunches and tools etc.) in each car class (prewar, Bradford, Javelin, Jupiter and "others"). There was a overall winner of course as well as a winner in class (except that the "others" were exempt from prizes), and it did seem fairer . . . until Bradford trucks were likely to turn up with a load of scrap metal on the tray! (well that didn't quite happen, in fact!). The tank fillers were sealed with good old masking tape after "official" topping up at a service station*, I seem to recollect . . . not particularly effective if you were determined to cheat . . but who would ever even think of that . . ! At the finish the tanks were unsealed and refilled to the brim once again at a service station* and the fuel use recorded and the calculations were done with a pencil and paper (no, not even a calculator was available!). . . I was competive last yr..actually better than one jowett

magic formula, tape tanks, ton/ mile, cheating...
I like the modern verson... an excuse for a good day out, bit of fun, and friends...yeah non jowett are not be legable for prizes, but adding them in the stats just adds to the interest/fun....
Even when comparing a 40yr old 3 speed auto GM carbutated 5.7L V8 to modern 3.8 V6 4 speed , fuel injected computerised GM... So much for modern tecnology lol

Yeah, Keith.
You are quite right, the "others" being included are of GREAT interest, and although I may not have made it too clear, WERE in fact included in the results, but were, quite rightly in my opinion, not eligible to win any JCC of NZ hardware. And, of course it goes without mentioning (as in my post case) we had did have a good day out, bit of fun, and friendship aplenty.
Leo (still delirious, perhaps!)

. . . and as far as I know no one gave a moments thought of cheating . . .. . . . an excuse for a good day out, a bit of fun, and friends . . .
