fuses
Hi. I have just bought a Javelin 1953. I would like to know where the fuses are situated, which one is which, what type of fuse each one is and what the amperage is of each one. I find the technical information provided by the club is so extensive that I am left rather bewildered. I owned Javelins between 1960 and 1964 but have forgotten most I ever knew.

Re: fuses
They are 35 Amp.
Their location depends on the model but there are usually two either on the outside of the regulator or in a separate small box.on the inside of the bulkhead. They often suffer from oxidisation so a fault can sometimes be cured with fine emery paper.

The 1953 model used a different regulator to this early one.
Item 2575 in this page from the parts book.

Re: fuses
Hi Strathmore22, you have found all of them! Compared with modern vehicles, the Jowett company obviously wasn't too concerned with H&S. Fuses were few and, being 35A rating, you really had to have a serious problem before they blew! I find the steel clips holding the fuses get corroded first and mind they don't get brittle and just fall off! The RF95 regulator, where the fuses are fitted, usually suffers from internal corrosion on the points and you might wish to consider fitting a replacement unit, as these often are the cause of a 'no-charge' condition.
All the best, David
