Radio

Post by David Kemp »

I have a period radio for my Jupiter & Bradford which is a Ferris.
This is one of the earliest transistor radios made for automotive use.
What model of radio did Jowett use for the Jupiter?
Radio mobile, Smiths & HMV all seem to have worked together in the 50's supplying radios to every British car maker.
Does anyone have an original radio?
Good memories of Bradfords.

In the February 1987 of Jowetteer somebody is advertising WANTED Original radio for Jupiter, RADIOMOBILE TYPE 42008 or 4100H. Presumably the advertiser knew what they wanted was correct.

I recently missed a leaflet at auction by Smith's Radiomobile for the HMV range which showed a 4100A fitted to the standard saloon and 4200A to the deluxe. This may not apply to other than UK, of course.
