How many clicks?
A key measure of any programme/web page I wrote for my employer was how many clicks it took to find what you want.
Is it my imagination or is it getting more complicated to navigate to Jowett Talk than it used to be? I not have to wait for a scrolling banner to quickly click Jowett Talk when it used to be just there. I can now log in and that now takes me to a screen full of tiny writing that I'm not sure what to do with. I then have to find the Jowett Talk again here before I actually get to what I wanted?
Is it me being a grumpy so an so or has it got more difficult?
Other forums I used are one click and I'm there? Surely this current model will put people off, I'm an IT professional and I think twice before I start the journey to Jowett Talk only to find no one else has posted since I was last here anyway!
Err yes sorry rant over..........

Re: How many clicks?
I have to say, that is not my experience currently.
In the past I had to log-in on every visit which did require perhaps 4 clicks. However Keith must have done something recently (unless it is at my end) because now I seem to be permanently logged in for every visit and it could not be easier — one click and I am in.

Re: How many clicks?
Jeremy - I'm with you - the forum & website is outdated - it works for few but is ignored by many members who just don't have the patience for what is a clunky & difficult to navigate to site - every time that I raise this point it falls to a book of excuses along with highly defensive barrage of why things cant be changed - I fully appreciate the time & energy expended in building & maintaining the site and that its undertaken in a voluntary capacity BUT the result is a poorly rated site that attracts little attention & use to the point that it works against the promotion of the club. Its exactly why in the main my Jowett restorations & activities are posted on other sites / forums.

Re: How many clicks?
Jeremy,
jowett.net which is a portal for all the Jowett clubs is now outdated as it was produced in 2014 with the latest software at that time. It will be updated shortly. You can click on any of the references to JowettTalk to get to the Forum. There is also a button on the MORE tab, if on a PC, or hamburger slice, if on a mobile.
jowett.org which is for the UK club was produced in 2021 with the latest software at that time has been better maintained and has the latest framework software. You can click on the Forum tab to get to JowettTalk , if on a PC, or hamburger slice, if on a mobile.
To the login page of JT I have added a Menu of facilities available to users depending on their Club Membership. Is this the issue you have?
As Philip says if you want to get to JowettTalk you can put an icon on your desktop or bookmark in your browser to give immediate access.
Jeremy if you want to help write any improvements you would be welcome.

Re: How many clicks?
Philip,
I have allowed users to remain logged in, which is a security risk, particularly as a club member, but this is a compromise as some users were taking their time writing some posts and lost their work. So you are correct you should now be able to log in and remain logged in which is fine provided your device is not accessible to others.

Re: How many clicks?
Remember if you are frequently logged into Google or Facebook then JowettTalk can accept their identity management to log into JowettTalk. This may be easier for you than any other way. This maybe a security risk as JT has to trust Google and Facebook but the risk is small.

Thanks Keith; it is certainly very convenient, and in my case at least, it is safe.
