I hope this message finds you well. My name is Luke and I am part of HCA Entertainment, a TV production company behind several classic vehicle restoration shows such as Shed and Buried and Junk and Disorderly. We are currently on the hunt for people with amazing sheds full of all sorts of vehicles and automotive memorabilia who would like to take part.
The series follows presenters Henry Cole and Fuzz Townshend as they rummage in people’s sheds celebrating the history of what they have before buying a vehicle to do up.
Do you think you could spread the word to your wonderful members and hopefully find a few people to take part and join the 450-odd shed owners we’ve filmed with already? Any questions, please let me know.
Many thanks for your help.
Best,
Luke Patterson

Re: Get on TV
Sounds like a good idea, BUT, there is no way I would advertise on TV the fact I have classic cars stored somewhere, neither would I want the ‘tarmac / dogs / caravan’ class knowing where all the steel, aluminum, iron, mig welders and tools were located. I even delete the geolocation tags from pictures I post on here. I know some club members could work out where one of my cars is but there are only three members that know where the rest are and I trust them. I can understand why a production company would like to do something on our cars and share that with the general public but there is no way I would share what I have with the great unwashed.
Unfortunately, the country we inhabit now is not the same as it was in the 80’s. Also Fuzz Townshend strikes me as the type of person you wouldn’t want in your shed, let alone your house. I wouldn’t leave him alone with my cat!
Just my opinion, others may have a different view.

Re: Get on TV
I've only got praise for the show, indeed, I'm a big fan! The presenters are passionate about what they do, ie bring classics back to life for the owners who have neither the means or health to do so but who still love their cars. Their workmanship is faultless, I have seen a couple of cars featured in the show, it would cost an absolute fortune to do what they achieve. Also, they only state the general area where they go to collect the car. It would only be local neighbours who would recognise the exact location. They give back the passion to owners who would never be able to achieve it on their own. Long may it continue!

Re: Get on TV
Yes Richard which is why JowettTalk has different access rights for members and different areas for members only.
Users have the choice of where they would like to post, in a public area or a members area.
Now that may not be wanted by some but it was something I thought important when designing the the system 20 years ago, since I, like you, realised the importance of not advertising what I had in my garage.
It may be beyond the knowledge and competency of many to acheive the separation on JowettTalk.
The facility adds complication to the website and requires a lot of manual moderation to make sure users are identified correctly and have a genuine interest in Jowetts. It also requires a lot of maintenance knowing if a user, once identified, is a club member. This is done for all 4 Jowett clubs.
Users also have control over the visibility of their posts and hence images. It may not be as obvious and easy as some social media sites, but it is available, unlike almost every other forum I have seen.
I have not yet renewed my membership so the sytem has blocked my access to the Members only forums such as Personal Albums and Remembrance as well as the Technical, History and Publications sections. Also the Magazine Libraries of each club are not accessible. And the menu of club Member services on the first page changes as they are now not available to me.
This status is now checked at logon and appropriate permissions set up for access. It also provides a menu of services that you have as a Club Member.
