Re: PRESIDENT of the JCC.
I shall first declare I am not a natural club or committee person, the Jowett club is the first "non professional" club I have joined. I did so because I had developed and interest in the Marque and my first contact with Jowett owners was through a very friendly group of East Anglian members. This makes me think that the club first needs to think about what sort of members it wants. Some marques want and need prestigous figure heads, because they want to attract members who like that aspect of club life (Aston Martin maybe comes to mind) . The Jowett club right from the start chose a Designer, not a celebrity as president, that I think could inform us as to what do do now. I don't think there is a penelty to be paid for having a president, it just needs to be one that should be chosen by the committee if and when they feel it would help and support them. The tenure should be fixed, say five years. (No replacement should be expected or demanded). For me, the important thing is that those who are on the committee, feel rewarded or recognised for what they do, for if they are content, then we have a happy club that will attract the sort of members we have already.
