Thank you for the explanation of how images are posted on BRM. That did not seem to me to be how it worked from reading the site help text.

I will investigate further.

Posting about Jowett's on other social media or publishing in other ways is very important to advertise the Jowett marque.

JowettTalk is primarily designed for Jowett owners or prospective owners or for those interested in finding out more about Jowett's. It predominantly contains information only about Jowett's so is in a different market to other on- line services.

However, it does have a section, Personal Albums, which was migrated from the Gallery which allows users to group their contributions together. This was introduced pre Facebook which offers the same facility.

Yes you can search Facebook and other forums for Jowett information but sifting through that to get what you would like is difficult. Having a conversation on a specific question with a group of like minded Jowett owners across the world may also be difficult. The sections in JT are designed to group together contributions and users, yet not separate them from other groups of users and contributions like Facebook.

JowettTalk has and will continue to evolve as technology advances and as Jowett owners develop their IT skills.

There are few philanthropic people in this world who actively share their knowledge. JowettTalk tries to attract them so that Jowett owners can have the benefit far into the future. I use it frequently to find out how to maintain my Jowett, benefitting from over 60 years of compiled knowledge contained in JT.

Recently the Beaulieu trust asked a question about some 1970 s rallies which was answered using the Archive Search.

The BRM image posting procedure is listed below - We have ensured that images can be posted easily & quickly:

How to use:
All should be fairly self-explanatory but just in case some brief instructions below:

Desktop view users
To add an image when in quick reply, simply hit the 'Add image' button to start the process.

You will then see a popup from the forum to tell you whether your upload was successful or not

Simply click 'OK' and the image code will be inserted into your post.

To add an image in reply mode, you will need to use the furthest icon on the right of the toolbar

Again you will see the pop up and the code will be inserted once you hit 'OK'

Mobile users
Unfortunately due to restrictions on what Proboards will allow you to display in mobile view (to aid loading times etc.), this feature is not yet available in pure mobile view, you will need to switch to desktop view and follow the above instructions.

Attachments
We will soon be turning off the attachments function of the site, primarily as it is another cost for increased storage and it's nice to have everything in one place. I'm confident this will not affect any existing threads but we will test and confirm once it's ready to be removed.

I will look into adding a button to the posting page. The mobile restriction should not be present as phpbb uses a sophisticated modern software package called Twig to display. About 10 years ago I started to move the website to a mobile first system as I could see the majority of users moving away from desktops. Usually you can put browsers on mobiles to a desktop mode, but this makes sites difficult to view.

The loss of attachment facility would seriously affect JT. Such unilateral actions by service providers and software companies are why for 30 years I have stuck with Open Source software. My vision has been for a resource that endures for many years to come.
