I support anyone who brings to the attention of others issues that may cause potentially dangerous fitting of components on the market.

I have had my own issues already documented on JT with parts supplied by JCS and other suppliers. In all cases I have first contacted the suppliers and in some cases the suppliers to JCS before posting on JT.

I also support JCS frequently with supply of parts and help.

On the particular topic of this thread what Mike said was accurate and an explanation of why the fix suggested by Paul was not acceptable in his opinion. Chris have you performed the fix suggested and do you take the responsibility when performing it on your customer's cars?

I have not fully analysed the problem and come to an engineering and risk assessment conclusion. Yes I do respect Paul's judgement but, like Mike, make by own decisions based on my engineering knowledge.

However, what Mike is really promoting is the need for JCS to provide a letter with the supplied parts explaining potential problems. These are not limited to the fix for the seal retainer but also the handbrake cover plate and the pipe flares. As Paul says, these may not be applicable in every part supplied by JCS or by their suppliers. Quality control by JCS is extremely cost and time intensive and we should not expect them to do it. We are all trying to help them and the members they voluntarily serve.

As Mike quite rightly says, members who modify supplied components themselves, even if they are following supplier's guidance, may invalidate insurance or in Australia the Warrant of Fitness.

Keith - The fitting of the components in question is only potentially dangerous according to Mikes opinion which is sort of propped up by yourself and a few in your boys club who you don't want me to upset by stating the truth - Its not for you or Mike to dictate what or how things should be undertaken at JCS - You have both stated your opinion and have both been proven wrong - You are not helping anyone else nor yourselves come to that.

Of course I fully accept responsibly for anything that I undertake in my workshop, its all correct, it all gets tested and its all guaranteed - its also fully covered by my products liability insurance but quite frankly its absolutely none of your business so why don't you find a new game to play - Of course you wont, You just cant help yourself, you will always want the last word, You will always want to defend your point to the point of no sensible response or reason and you will always want to prove others wrong no matter what it takes or how foolish you make yourself look in the process - I have had enough of your nonsense and have far better things to spend my time on - I wont be responding to you on this matter any further
