Many years ago when I was a boy, just after the extinction of the dinosaurs, spark plug qualities were much debated.
My Bradford had a champion L10 on one cylinder & a J8 on the other. When I bought two new plugs I bought NGK plugs as all my friends found these outlasted any other brand.
Champions were found to be the lowest grade followed by AC delco. Some Neaderthals could remember Lodge & KLG
However despite being used in Rolls Royce Merlins they were not consudered good or even available.
My two new NGK plugs made no difference I could detect.
Half a century later does anyone have any preference for plugs they fit to their Bradford or Jupiter?
Internet seems to say Champion are only better than Chinese brands , with NGK , Denso & autolite being the bees knees.

Re: Spark plugs
Hi David,
NGK B6HS for me in my Javelin. However, who knows if the new NGK plug you take out of what looks like a genuine NGK box, is actually made by NGK?
I do know that my Javelin was sensitive to the make of plug you fitted. She only ever let me down once by the roadside, and that was due to a set of non-NGK plugs that I had fitted. Fortunately, I had an old set of NGKs in the boot and those got us home. For me nowadays, Champions would be way down the list, although years ago a set of Champion L10s would have been the 'bees-knees'.
All the best,
David

Re: Spark plugs
I too have used NGK for racing, rallying and everyday use having had and having heard many stories with problems with Champions and some other brands.
Like many manufactured products the quality will vary and the type for Merlin's would have not been normal retail quality.
I mean Honda make the Jazz and F1 cars and motorbikes.

Re: Spark plugs
I agree, NGK seem to be the most reliable and best for longevity. However, please buy only from a reliable source as there are cheap forgeries out there (priced too good to be true, as I found out)!
