NORTH WEST SECTION There was a change of plan and instead of Ashover we went
to Carsington Water on Sunday 16th July. Both events are organised by different Rotary
clubs in Derbyshire and both raise funds for local charities, so both worthy of our support.
Five Javelins (Brown, Mason, Davies, Cash & Fox) met and processed on to the field area,
parked and set up flags and banner advertising the Centenary year of the Jowett Car
Club.
The weather was indifferent, but a good variety of other classic cars and motorcycles
came and, being a rural show, a number of tractors too - including an International Har
vester model, one of the last made in the Jowett factory at Idle. The owner must have
known we were going to be there.
Most of the party spent time talking to interested folk, others walked and spent time in
cafés or ice cream shops and browsed the RSPB shop too. The day was satisfactorily
ended with a meal at the Bentley Brook. - Pam Cash
SEP 8th-11th: NW section AGM weekend, Egerton Arms, Astbury with section AGM on Sunday 10th,
2.30pm. There will be a drive out on the Saturday and a meal in the evening, please let Dianne know if
you are coming on the Saturday and if you want to join us for a meal. Please come with suggestions for
outings in 2024.
OCT 4th-7th: Joint trip with the EA section to The Farmhouse, Fincham PE33 9HE. Rooms cost Double
£90 B&B, Single £60 B&B, to book ring 01366 347747 on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday to speak to Carol,
quote Lawrence/JCC, they require a 10% deposit to secure the room. Please let me know if you want to
