Race 3 analysis.

This shows the relative best sectors. Sector one we came 36th with 58.479, Sector 2 44th with 2:25.509, and sector 3 35th with 2:52.251. The sectors are one from start to Tetre Rouge, 2 from there to end of Mulsanne, 3 from there to finish.

12_LapChart_RACE 3.PDF
The lap chart shows the relative positions of each car on each lap. In Race 3 we started 32nd, dropped to 33rd, then 40th, back up to 38, then 31st, then 38th, finishing 39th. The rise in position was due to the late driver change. The start position was due to a good fastest lap in race 2.

Trying to estimate effect of humidity and temperature on performance is an art. The engine should be better in cool, humid conditions until you start to get icing on the carbs. The tyres should be better with hot track temperature but all then depends on tyre pressure which we played with during practice settling on, I think, 38 psi. hot as we checked pressure at each pit stop and at end of race or practice.

This is informative showing the build up of speed during the race. Chris's best lap coming at the end of the stint, possibly because the late pit stop gave him space and was not held up by similar perfomance cars. The driver change on Lap 5 added about 1min 30 secs to the Sector 1 time.
19_AnalysisByLap_RACE 3.PDF
This is the most informative chart showing how the late driver change put us on third in Lap 5, but of course dropping down again when we made the change to 9th past the post on lap 6 as faster cars caught up, and way down on lap 7 after the change.

Night Practice analysis

It was wet and cold. Perhaps next time we will alter tyre pressures accordingly. We will probably not alter carb settings to better performance but to get that little extra it might help.

The long gap here was due to fixing the top hose that had come off when Chris was driving. Scott followed on and managed to do a 570 deg spin at Indianapolis when blinded by headlights in the mirror. Mirror was blanked off for night race.

Comparisons with other cars, particularly those in the same class may show up something useful. Drivers reported ease of passing on corners but lack of top speed on staights. Some aero dynamic changes are required as well as more power at the top end and higher max revs.

Dear Mr Spero, Go wash your mouth out with strong carbolic soap immediately   - I was very much part of this years Le Mans team and would care kindly not to be dumped into the 'Aged Jowetters' bracket just yet !

Playing with the big boys and winning at it - Chris Bates pilots the Jupiter past the 1952 J2X Allard (all 8 cylinders 5,394 cubic inch of it) to his next target the 1950 Talbot Lago T26 GS (Inline 6 cylinder 4,482 cubic inch) which Chris passes within the next mile :D
