Locking petrol cap
I have a 1949 Javelin with a plain bayonet style fuel cap (stamped Ford!). Anyone know where I can get a chrome locking fuel cap please? Or know that a different car's cap will fit?
Chris Cole from sunny (!) north Gloucestershire.

Locking Gas Cap
Wilmot Breeden part number 7/3888. Fits all 1933 to 195(?) English Ford models in addition to the Javelin. Hope this helps.

Chris.
This might not be a lot of help(!) but over the past six months two locking caps for a Javelin have been advertised on eBay. I assume there is no difference as to whether the Javelin is a '49 or a '53.
I'll keep my eye out for you if you get no luck elsewhere.
Regards
Paul

Hi Paul and Chris,
Hope all is well.
The Ford cap is, I believe, from a mark 1 and 2 Escort. The Jowett locking cap is made from Mazak ( Monkey metal) and are usually pretty pitted by now.
I run with a Ford one fitted...I never have enough in the tank to be siphoned out !
These are fairly easy to get hold of and they make a very useful back-up for when you leave your cap on the roof and drive off ! I carry a couple in the tool box.
