Javelin engine for sale

Post by David Morris »

Hi all,

Just noticed a Javelin engine for sale on eBay. The item number is 1550646310. Currently asking for bids around £200.

It looks very scruffy, as if it has been in a hedgerow for years. But there are a few redeeming features -

Firstly it is in Westerham, Kent, where I was born!

Then, it has been back to the factory, as it carries an 'R' number. But beware, this does not always mean it has an oval web crankshaft but the oilways have probably been opened out.

From the ribs at the rear, it should be a Series 3.

The oil transfer pipe is the old metal wound type, which shows it's age.

It looks like the plugs originally had the old waterproof plug covers. But at least the plugs are there, but the carbs are missing...

So, it might be useful for reconditioning? My guess is that it hasn't been touched for years. Might mean less corrosion?

Someone out there might be interested,

All the best,

David

Hi All,

Slight error, I copied the number without the last couple of digits! The eBay number should be 155064631059, not as given above.

All the best,

David
