As it has just enreed my price zone, I will put my name on it with conditions.

Howzabout we give it one week. If in that time a stationary engine enthusiast claims it, sobeit.
But to save it from the scrapheap, I will take it on.
I could do with another hobby/interest. I only have the Rileys, Javelin, Minor van, fly fishing, real ale, caravanning, home improvements, gardening, finishing my workshop rebuild, wristwatches, and magazine editing to occupy my time so far.
Good job I'm young and like a coiled spring; a veritable blur of frenetic activity all my waking life.

Now - where did I leave the remote control?

In that case Alex - I have a challenge for you - can you have it running for the clubs 2023 rally in Wakefield, West Yorkshire - that gives you a good 12 months to sort it - It would be a travesty to hold a national rally in our Centenary year without having a stationary engine in attendance :D

I do love a challenge.
I do also love a tinker.
I also love a Centenary rally.
One of my proudest achievements was to organise (well, one of the gang of three) the Riley Centenary Rally in 1996. Using a bit of man-maths, we could claim to have had 1000 Rileys there over the weekend, one of which drove overland from Australia.
Now there's a challenge!
However, I am relatively new here, so I don't want to dive in and grab every freebie until you have all realised what a likeable and upstanding chap I am. For all you know, I could be a scallywag.

Well then.
Hello Alec.
The dictionary defines a gatherer as someone who 'brings things together', and 'cause(s) to assemble' as well as 'to acquire by collecting'.
I surely must be one of those people, and from what you say, you probably are as well.
I don't have a penchant for the Jowett stationary engine parts, which is why they need a new home.
A rolling stone gathers no moss, and I hear that prevarication is the thief of time:-
So come and get it. It seems no-one else will.
Some of the parts are heavy, but I have an engine hoist.
I live near Accrington in Lancashire, the first part of my post code being BB5, and I am in the JCC membership address book.
If you look like a scallywag, I shan't open the garage door!
Regards,
Tony.

Thanks.
I gather (!) that you could do with it being somewhere else asap, so I will track you down and make arrangements.
I fish Ogdens reservoir on Grane Road, so might even try to synch trips, with fuel being the price it is.
Anyway, we will talk.

Hello again Alec.
The W.P. engine booklet is in the Library section of JowettTalk.
Technical library - Industrial - topics - WP engine - click on photo of front page - pdf appears on bottom computer task-bar - click and it should appear.
If I'm telling grandma how to suck eggs, I apologise.

I met Alec today and transferred the stationary engine bits, so they are now in Manchester.

Almost correct Tony; they are in Middleton, 'twixt Manchester and Rochdale, in my lockdown project workshop. I call it my lockdown lockup.

Many thanks for this project; most kind.

Some questions.
What is the firing order for flat twin engines?
What if any publication could I employ to further (create, more accurately) my understanding of the Jowett industrial engines?
And what do the engine ID plates tell of the age of these engines? Photos below.

It must be April 1st again Keith.

Alec,
The 1st number is the last number of the 1930s i.e. 4 = 1934.

@Tony Fearn - thanks, Tony. I was kinda hoping that these would have MoD/WWII history, but no matter, I will soon make up some interesting history.

@Forumadmin - is that facing the engine or viewed from behind? I need to know if the firing order is 1-2 or 2-1 before I go to Halfords for spare parts.
