Electrical junction box??

Post by JamesG »

I am looking at a limited rewire on my 1952 special bodied Jupiter which was rebodied some years ago when I suspect most of the wiring was done.
The wiring is now a bit of a rats’ nest and I am trying to sort it out, but I have no idea what one component on the existing fuse board is. Top and bottom pictures below. There is no connection between terminals within the unit. The red cable comes from the alternator, with the blue going to the ignition light. I assume the black wires on the other terminal are just a common earthing post. Based on spacing, the two large posts may have been intended for a mega fuse, but none fitted and no connections. It does not fold into an enclosed box, being bolted by the 3 thick bolts (1 top, two bottom)
It seems inordinately large just to keep as two connecting terminals, so I am planning to get rid of it, but first, does anyone have any idea what it is and its function?

It is not standard. It may have been a fusebox or possibly some anti theft device. It would help if you could draw a circuir diagram based on where all the wires go.

Thanks Keith. Looking through past papers, able to answer my own question. Its a voltage regulator from a Citroen Dyane, but missing innards and cover. Will now be removed.
