Have been having problems with my engine ticking over to fast. If i pull the balance rod by hand the engine slows down. I suspect the pull off spring as gone weak. I ordered a new spring from JCS but it seems very small compared to the one fitted around 10cm diameter the one fitted is longer and 25cm diameter which size is correct.
Thanks Barry.
Carb balance rod spring.

The one i have received is part no 52076 and has ring ends not hooks. Looking at the service manual the one fitted is correct unless this one is to be added to the original to strengthen it no info came with it.
Thanks Barry.
Thanks Barry.

Re: Carb balance rod spring.
Hello Barry,
A carburettor specialist should have a suitable spring. For my Jupiter I got hold of a new spring, one of those with the coils reducing in diameter at both ends and hooks/eyes that are free to swivel from within the coils. Works very well, all I quoted was, with the throttle closed, the length between the anchor bracket and the cable pinch bolt.
Too strong a spring can accelerate wear at the throttle butterfly shafts. Also, a small amount of wear can cause variance of low idle speeds. The carburettor specialist I used was very understanding about the requirements for the spring. He is also familiar with the Javelin/Jupiter installations.
