We all know that we need to use engine oil and not gearbox oil in our precious gearboxes. My question relates to Molyslip. There's a variety of Molyslip products available for use in engines, gearboxes, rear axles etc. BUT the question is which Molyslip should/could we use in Javelin gearboxes?
Is there something in Molyslip for gearboxes which would be detrimental to our gearboxes? After all we don't use gear oil, do we?
Or should we use Molyslip for engines, since we use engine oil in our gearboxes? But then would there be any benefit?
All these questions!! Sorry.
Paul

Re: Use of Molyslip in gearboxes
Try the molyslip website https://www.molyslip.co.uk/ and ask their experts. They should email you back.
As far as I know the stuff I use only contains molybdenum disulphide which reduces friction and is inert and as I said seems to work even if gearbox runs dry. https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/arch ... t-moly-lip
It may affect synchro take up which is effectively a cone clutch meaning gear changes might be fractionally longer.
2001e for engines
2001g for gearboxes
I use moly as an assembly paste as well.
