Quote in a post.

I've sussed out how to highlight a quote for use in a reply posting.

1. Open JowettTalk and put the post with the quote you want to use on the screen.

2. Left click the mouse and drag it accross the chosen sentence(s) so that they are blocked out in blue.

3. Click 'edit' on the toolbar.

4. click 'copy'.

5. In JowettTalk click 'post reply'.

6. When the blank window comes up click 'quote'.

7. Click 'edit' on the toolbar.

8. Click 'paste'.

9. Put cursor to the end of the pasted sentence(s).

10. Click 'quote' again and it should contain a 'slash' this time to show the end.

11. Move the cursor down a bit and start writing your post.

12. When finished, select 'preview' before sending the post so that it's what you want.

If u want to quot a whole post there is a "quote button top right of that post before u use the "post" button

If u want to quote a phase.. in your post
At any time: left click and drag your mouse over the words high lighting them
Then right click and click "copy"
paste this into your post
Again highlight and click the "quote" button above your post

In the same way u make bold underlined colour and font size

Now, how do we put in pictures (from a file) or drawings like Tony sent me recently?

There are 2 methods to put a pic in a post

1st is to load the pic to a web server like photobucket then get copy the url thats in the adress bar when u have the hosted web page of the server (photo bucket) up...paste into your post highlight the url in the post and clk the "Img" button.
This has disadvantages...if the pic is removed from the web server it also goes from the post..

The far better and easiest method is use the "uploadpic" link above and follow instructions...it will load the pic into your post

BUT...edit your pic before uploading..
Crop backaground out so the subject is in the forground in a photo editor
edit the size...width to about 550
then "save as" change the name so u keep the orginal pic
choose lpg and a opitions box appears...adjust to about 20 to 25%
Then save ..then upload

The reason to edit 1st is
1/ makes the subject clearer and bigger in the final pic
2/makes the file very much smaller to upload...and faster epec if one is on a slow dialup or broadband connection
3/Big pics are automatcally resized with software when u upload...But sometimes this software can lock up, espec if the pic has corupted when uploaded..this then causes issues on the server...and the admin has to often reboot or do work...and he may not know cause he is at work or asleep....or both

When the latter is used this then loads the pics to the same web server the web sire is...unless the Admin deletes the pic it will always be there

But for the benefit of others, Keith's reference to 'upload pics' is NOT above on THAT post, but at the top of the 'Reply' page.

Now all I have to do is sort out how to make the picture smaller!

I have never used the photo edit feature like this before.

Mind you, an upgrade to the next major release is imminent. I will accept views on whether we should or should not do it; but note that support will stop at the end of the year. So I am probably in for a few long evenings doing the upgrade.

Im still running a slightly moded form of phpbb as phpbbs with phpnuke
version 2.07 from 2004

We are now daily getting script kiddies trying to hack...but because the scripts are for more uptodate versions they dont work

works fine...does the job..why fix something that isnt broke?

UIpgrading a basic version is not too bad, but add a few modules and turns into one big mission.

At the risk of confusing you (and others who are also following this thread, I suggest the following:

Right up near the top of this page you'll find a "Search Engine".

Click on that.

If you then type the word "resize" (minus the quotes) in the topmost box and tap return on your keyboard, there will be several instances of contributions that have the word "resize" contained, shown.

I suggest you read at least the second one and download the little program that's recommended (assuming you are using Windows XP, of course):).
