I have a severely rusted seat as well as new perimeter tubing for the seat bottom.

We made a new seat for 118 a few years ago. Slightly different in the size and layout of the holes, but as all that is buried under the upholstery, it looks identical to the original in appearance. A miscommunication with the tube bender resulted in more frame tubes than I ordered. They were made in two parts with a front rail and a back, then cut to length (actually the depth) and spliced together.

I can't recall what we did about the tack strip other than we used wood for the tacks to grab rather than the wound sisal of the original. I can't find a photo in the file either, but I know I didn't remake the steel channel that holds the tack strip.

The wood bits were an easy copy and we had the hinges from the original seat. Same for the seat slider rails, although we did make new wooden risers for under the rails.

In a rare moment of tidiness, I cleaned out all the boxes in the loft last month and found a set of seat hinges. It looks like the factory was cutting costs by not chrome plating the seat hinges or the hood hinges in the later cars. Jup 822 has painted bits, as does my racer 758. James MIller says his late cars are all painted as well.

Willing to help however I can.

I currently have a couple of complete Jupiter bench seats that are for future restoration projects - I am minded to use one has a pattern for a small batch production of seat frames has there appears to always be small demand for them - however, has always my time is limited and this will be no overnight process but willing to make it happen at my end should they be enough interest - Chris

If this pattern becomes available I would be interested in acquiring one as I will have to reproduce a new bench seat from scratch (though all the blueprints are available it will be a challenging work for craftsman). Cheers.
