1988 Pirelli Classic Marathon

Post by Mike Allfrey »

Hello All,

I have just re-read the Pirelli Classic Marathon report in Motor Sport (August, 1988) and in the illustrations have noticed the following:

'Geoff McAuley and Frank Wooley prove a Jowett Javelin can fly.' On Page 8149.

'A welcome pause at the summit of Passo Giau - five timed miles of climbing bends.' Page 821. In the photo, I think I have identified two Jupiters and the Javelin with its boot lid open. Both Jupiters appear to be dark green.

Am I correct? I will have to do some more research!

Mike Allfrey.

Probably time to visit the video library in the Member Services.
I have 18 hrs of video of the event which was first cut down to an hour and then reduced again to 30 mins

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5487#p42750

It is Video ID 99 or Video Item 48 in the library which you can find if you click on the Video Choice button in the Menu when you are logged into Member Services.

This link will work if I have given you access in the previous access system.
