I have had this somewhat tatty leather document case in my possession for as long as I can remember. Obviously it becomes a more interesting item with the flap open and the Jowett company name and Grosvenor Road address revealed. There are two initials stamped on the inside of the flap, the second is clearly the letter 'J', unfortunately the first initial is unclear due to wear and tear/age. I always thought it might be the letter 'E' with the middle horizontal line worn away. More recently, and with the use of a magnifying glass, there appears to be a slight inward curve to the top horizontal line. I'm beginning to think it may have been a letter 'B'. I think I need to identify the font/typeface.
May I ask if any of the forum/club members have seen an item like this or have any information regarding it. I would welcome any comments.
I should add that I was born into a house in Wayside Crescent, Five Lane Ends. The garden backed onto the factory site although by then it was occupied by International Harvester (early '60s). I'm not aware of any family member having a connection with Jowett.
