From this news item, I see that an electric version of the Morris commercial J-Type van is likely to go into production. I imagine that more people remember the name Morris than they do Jowett, but I bet that of those that do remember the names, Jowett is held in greater affection.
So, all we need to do is find a wealthy investor, plus an empty plant in a depressed area of the country that the Government wants to rejuvenate with tax money, and design a modern Bradford van into which we drop this "crate" motor: https://swindonpowertrain.com/documents ... elease.pdf Of course we will need some battery packs - perhaps crashed Tesla's can be made to donate them, and there we have re-established Jowett Cars Ltd.
Just kidding!

Re: Morris (Commercial) Revived; Why not Jowett?
A few years ago a few Jowetteers mused about converting a Javelin to be electric powered for the 2023 celebration. Such conversions have been done to various classic cars, some into hybrid, some into full electric.
It is not particularly difficult or expensive to do but the vehicle you get is unlikely to be practical. A cross between a Sinclair C5 and a Challenger tank.
Whilst waiting to be picked up after rugby on Saturday I studied a guy sitting in his electric car by the charging station. The station said his battery was 96% full but still had 18 minutes to go. He was sitting waiting patiently reading his broadsheet newspaper, probably with the heater on. I can think of better ways to spend a Saturday and do less damage to the environment.

Thought you might be interested in the Loryc story in Majorca. If you google Loryc electric or go to http://www.lorycelectric.com/en/ this is quite an interesting part of car history from 1920 & is ongoing. I think
Charlie Bosch is fortunate to have Opel onboard. I saw the Loryc Speedster last week & it is impressive & very quiet!
With high rental prices there may only be a limited market but they must have done the sums.
An all electric Jowett? Out of interest, could we still use the name Jowett on such a project.
Alf.
