Was at the classic car show at the NEC this weekend. The show as a whole was quite disappointing, too many new or nearly new cars.
The Jowett stand was one of the better ones though, there was a theme to it unlike other stands who had just a bunch of cars stuck in their area. Well done guys!
I am a member of a Porsche club who may wish to have a stand next year and wondered if anyone knew what the procedures and costs were to getting one. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Yes, well done Midlands section - a fantastic display, including Mr. Eames lovely Long chassis 'See' complete with rush plants, antelope scull and tilley lamps to set the scene; my five year old son was mesmorized! And a mock up of a partially assembled Javelin in its rolling cage as used on the Idle assembly line - brilliant! Did you win best club stand this year? You all certainly deserved it! Although I agree with Hendrick about the number of newer classics at the show, isn't this happening at all classic car shows nowadays? If this is what the public want (which it clearly is by the numbers of people flocking around such cars) then I feel it is something we have to endure in order to see a relatively smaller selection of our sort of cars. Despite this, I am continually amazed at the quality of some of the restorations and not always on the prestige cars, either - where else would you see some of the best cars in the country in one venue? I personally love it and look forward to next years show.
I have been to this show a few times, but stopped going a while ago as it seemed that there was little variety, year on year, in the show as a whole.
I just feel that as it is called a "Classic Car Show" then it should be mainly about classic cars, I admit though that there will always be an element of modern cars at a show like this.
