fuel starvation

Post by Bryan Walker »

My javelin is still suffering from fuel starvation intermittently, I've replaced the mechanical pump and also tried a new electric one.
checked to see if its the filter in the tank -I've got a later tank no filter, there goes that answer. Replaced most of the fuel line (from pump just before the mid-ship bearing support to carb. tee now rubber). Back from pump was replaced 10 years ago.

Any ideas?

Make sure the filler cap is not totally sealed. Needs a pin hole.
Check petrol pipe is not near hot pipe.
I suffered for years with this. Turned out to be piece of rubber in tank blocking pipe. Car would starve going up a long hill or driven hard.
Air line back up the pipe might shift it.
Could be deposit in pipe has narrowed it.
If new pipe could be air leak.
